Well, I just told them there were people having sex in the background, so it wasn't an issue.
How to do parenting right.

Unless they get the wrong idea and start thinking that Dream Theater has intense sex going on while they record their music.  :lol

Interesting idea.

I just hope it's not compressed.  I hate compressed sex.

The filter that replaces "Thatswhatshesaid", if it's correctly spaced, with "I would love to be banned."

You can turn it off somewhere in your using settings.

*points to sig*

People aren't having sex in the background.  It's a recorded sample of people having sex.  Tell your kids the truth FFS.   :lol

Wait, that's automatic? And here I thought that mods have been going out of their way to change my "thatswhatshesaid" posts.

how did they even get the sound of the moaning?

did they secretly plant a microphone in one of the band member's rooms while they were having sex with a loud chick? Did they look up a video on a 90's porn site and rip the audio?

these things i need to know

it would be so much easier if there were pre-recorded libraries of every sound imaginable that one could obtain and use in such a situation!

oh, right...

yeah cause porn would totally be a category...

Calvin6s

Isn't that how the created SFAM in the first place?  Myung was watching porno and it bled into the drum mics.  Rather than re-record, they just wrote some lyrics to make it seem like it was always meant to be that way?

It would. Believe it or not, sex has been around a long time and as such has been part of a couple stories.

Macaulay Culkin could star in a new film: "Home, a moan".  All about this thread.

i guarantee the same sound library they used to make the sound FX collage in "Finally Free" and other parts of the album also has the moaning from "Home." we're talking about film effects libraries; they HAVE to contain every sound imaginable, for foley and ADR purposes. it's far more cost-effective than using recording hours, including music projects.

(now, if only someone could figure out which library that is...)

Grizz

I think that they got the SFX from one of the pieces of software that Jordan was using at the time. IIRC they discuss the piece of software from which they sourced the sound from the intro of Home in the LSFNY commentary but I haven't looked into it yet.

Speaking of canned SFX - dialogue - screams.
The SFAM murder scream is in just about every other Halloween time ad I hear.
Dr. Davis from Queensryche Operation Mindcrime is a pretty popular sound library bit as well.

At least they didn't use the Wilhelm

They used that in LOTR. With all of the technology used in that movie, they still went old school for that scream.   :lol

The Wilhelm is only used as a fun nugget these days, rather than as a legitimate sound effect. :lol

They should have used it in Metropolis 2. That would have been the ultimate fun nugget.

Zook

I've been working on a moan free version for about a week now. I think I finally got it to my liking. The whole build up is gone, so it goes right into the solo. I like Home just fine the way it is, although it's still awkward when on in the car, but this was just a fun project to see if I could. I think it turned out pretty good.

gzarruk

I always get nervous when Home is playing on the speakers and there's people close to me  :lol
