DT's twitter posted this a few hours ago:

"@dreamtheaternet: We want to say just how thankful DT is for our fans & friends from all around the world. Looking forward to seeing you on the road in 2015!"

Does this actually mean they'll tour next year??

(Also, that's my best attempt at a clickbait headline. Lol)

I have it from a reliable source that they are going to have a week's residency at a club north of Los Angeles where they are going to play each album in it's entirety over the course of the week... with Sherinian and Zakk Wylde guesting. And boobs. There will be lot's of them.

That's a funny thing.  An idea I wanted Alter Bridge to do, for their 10th year as a band, is to do like four club shows in a big area like LA, Chicago, New York where they played a different album in its entirety over the course of this residency.

As for DT touring 2015?  I'm for it.  If they have a show in LA and the general set includes either The Bigger Picture, Behind the Veil, and/or Surrender to Reason, I want to be a part of that audience.

Let's hope they finally change the fucking setlist

BlobVanDam

Maybe they just meant it as a figure of speech without having any solid plans for the new year yet. Maybe it will be after recording a new album. All I know is that the Sydney show was supposed to be the last show of the tour at that point in time.

bluehaze1933

Crossing my fingers...Happy Thanksgiving everybody.

TheAtliator

Well, clearly this would not be the Along For the Ride tour any longer. New album or not, I'm sure this will be a new tour. And awesome, I'm excited!  :metal

genome

I've heard they are planning a special tour to commerorate the 21st anniversary of Awake.

JayOctavarium

I hope they play the first half of the album, along with an encore consisting of Home, One Last Time and The Spirit Carries On.

Lucien

"I'll see you, on the road" The ending of nearly every Jordan Rudess video. If he wrote that tweet, we should expect nothing  :lol

:rollin

Jordan always walks a lot around places. He should say " see you on the streets"  ;)

Laughingplace56

I actually heard they were planning a celebratory tour for the 1 year anniversary of DT12, where they play the same 6 DT12 songs from the AFTR tour and Raw Dog as an encore.

Fredo96993

The residency and Alter Bridge thing seem suspiciously like Coheed and Cambria's Neverender shows in 2008.

LightCurves

Would be stupid not to tour for their 30th anniversary.

Fredo96993

I've noticed with the release of DT12 and it's whole cycle a rather similar pattern to the ToT cycle. I think they've done touring DT12 and they will get an album out next year and will then start touring it and the anniversary late next year.

Prog Snob

Home for the Holidays tour...

eh, too late.

Not a great job I'm afraid, your thread title is far too informative. For proper clickbait it should be more like "DREAM THEATER said WHAT in their latest EPIC TWEET?!"

James LaBrie recently spouted a bunch of BS about how he thinks the anniversaries should be counted, so we may see that in 2019.
Rush didn't tour for 40th, but IIRC they're planning a 41st.

Anguyen92

And there will be more shows announced soon!!!

I'm salivating.

It's another summer European tour. Insufferable? Good.

You write just fine. It's ok. Just enjoy the concerts for us. The best shows I saw of them were in Den Bosch and London back in2000. Perhaps one day I'll get to go back to Europe and hopefully plan my trip around a tour over there. It's a great way to see Europe.

As far as I know, Europe is a bigger market for DT (and metal in general) than America, and they have the opportunity to play some big festivals like Wacken for the first time. Why shouldn't they do it?

Because they skipped the whole southern half of the United States on their last tour and because South Florida and Florida in general DOES have a decent metal scene as well. I think they should at least try to get to a market they skipped over completely before doing a third run in Europe. For us in the South who have been waiting on some word of inclusion it seems like a slap in the face. Maybe they'll finally include us in the fall. Who knows??? I hope so but I am not counting on it at this point given the last tour. It is what it is and I'll survive and see the bands that do/can  play here.  Wanee festival in North Florida (Florida-Georgia line) in mid-April. Notice I said North Florida. For me it is an 8-9 hour drive from Homestead each way for the three day festival. I'd drive and have driven in the past 4-6 hrs each way to see Dream Theater. It was never a viable option on the last tour because they didn't come further south than Washington DC. For those who feel my post is insufferable and oh so redundant (it is and I understand that), sorry, but the question was asked of me...

Hell yeah! I was going to go there anyway. Having DT on the schedule comes in  handy.
This is gonna be some nice summer vacation.
