In other words, what is the best single set you think the band has played?  To clarify:

1. I am only talking about a single set, not an entire show.  Since the "Evening with..." shows feature Set 1, Set 2 and an encore, you are gonna pick from one of the three (although I cannot imagine an encore being picked).

2. You have to pick a single set from "Evening with..." shows ONLY.

My pick off the top of my head would be Set 2 from the current tour:

The Mirror
Lie
Lifting Shadows Off a Dream
Scarred
Space Dye Vest
Illumination Theory

I'd have to look through all of the sets from the 6DOIT and ToT tours, since I know there were a lot of beastly sets back then.  Just a quick glance shows this one, which is pretty awesome:

The Glass Prison
Strange Deja Vu
Through My Words
Fatal Tragedy
Under a Glass Moon
Lines in the Sand
Misunderstood
Lie
The Spirit Carries On
Take the Time

This. SDV is my #1 DT song and Scarred is top 5 material, and getting to hear them back-to-back live (in addition to the other Awake songs) was one of the best concert experiences I've ever had :hefdaddy

That's pretty tough.

I would think something from the 6DOIT or TOT tour, though.

Yep, this was the set I could've only hope for, and they've managed to put it into life. I don't even like IT that much, but that Awake chunk just slays everything in comparison.

I really loved that set as well.  And as much as I consider Lifting Shadows and Space Dye Vest to be near the bottom of the DT discography for me, I loved the live versions of these songs this tour.  Both sounded really phenominal.

Am I wrong, or was this tour the first time they played "Space-Dye Vest" live?

Awesome, thanks!

Anything from the Six Degrees and Octavarium tours suit me fine.

Those are my two favorite tours by a country mile.

Agreed.

The Train of Thought tour had some pretty great sets, too, when considering the pre-ToT songs they were playing that tour, but the presence of This Dying Soul in just about every first set drags them down for me (as well as the opener always being As I Am, a song I only sorta like).

Have to agree with this. Other than IT, all these songs are fantastic.

It would definitely be something from SDOIT > TOT.
The SDOIT tour was touring my favourite album, and I liked the choices from the older albums too, so those sets were all great. The Octavarium tour had great setlists too, no matter what set you choose. The TOT tour was great too, but I don't like some of the TOT stuff as much (although As I Am and ITNOG are favourites), and there were some older choices I didn't like as much.

The current setlist (2nd set and to a lesser degree the 1st set) would possibly be my least favourite sets they've ever done.

I was blown away when I found out about the second set of the current tour (actually the same goes for the first set and the encore), and it's certainly awesome, but this seems like the very definition of awesomeness:

Oh, no, that would probably be the worst second set conceivable for me  :lol

I was there.   Great show.   It was the first time I had *ever* done a road trip to see a band...or anything for that matter.  Fantastic memories of that show.

Nice man. It's still to this day my top show along with a few gems from other bands. Just a relentless assault of fuck yeah that night was.
