Here's a video from 2004 that doesn't cut off until TDS starts for a bit. The transition's REALLY smooth. I love it.

In the current set [...] SDOIT disc 1 is just neglected in general. That makes me a sad fan.

Well, it's not the only one.. And that goes too for the previous tour.. I mean, if you wrote "general" by meaning that SDOIT Disc 1 is not played it on this tour, then you're right, but the same destiny it's share by 6 others albums.. If you mean by "general" that it wasn't played since MM's arrival, then you're forgetting The Great Debate..

"In general" was to cover TGD. I didn't forget! I know it hasn't been completely absent. :)
TGP hasn't been played in forever, Disappear has only been played a handful of times ever, I don't even know if/when Misunderstood has been played since the SDOIT tour, BF was played on the SC tour, but I'm not sure about any other time since the SDOIT tour, and TGD has been played a bit.
Overall that's a pretty poor record for such a great album. I can understand them not playing SDOIT (the song) much, because they have trouble even finding room for songs half its length after their initial tour, and the individual sections have always been in good rotation, so I appreciate that.

Honestly, I think they should rotate TGP/BF/M/TGD every tour or tour-leg, just to give each of those four longer songs from SDOIT a chance to be played/heard. We've already gotten TGD, so give "Misunderstood" or "The Glass Prison" a go around soon. Then next tour bring out "Blind Faith". No real good reason not to, and I think we've had plenty of the title track's movements, especially the four middle ones. If they're going to do any more of the title track, play "About To Crash (Reprise)" and "Losing Time/Grand Finale". It would be a great way to close the first set of an Evening With tour.

Holy crap they were on fire that night.

If they swapped out The Shattered Fortress and OTBoA for Glass Prison/this dying soul it would have been a perfect setlist for 2014 for me

MP had an idea that DT11 would be a concept album and on the tour in support of the album they'd play it in the first set and the 12-step suite in the second set.
Where do you get this info?
He said that in an interview: https://www.prog-sphere.com/interviews/mike-portnoy-interview/
Quote from: MPActually, to be honest, before I left the band, me and John Petrucci were already discussing that the next record was gonna be a concept album. And I already had the setlist written for the next tour. It was gonna be "An Evening With" and the first set would be the full concept album, the second set would have been the 12 Steps suite. I already had the setlist planned, but obviously, you know, best laid plans... You never know what's gonna happen. But that was always my intention if things didn't end up happening the way they happened, so... Obviously everything changed.

They would never swap OtBoA this tour, but TGP instead of TSF would be the only song they had to play that night to make it the best concert I've ever seen. BRING IT OUT ON THE SECOND US LEG.

I feel the same with Train of Thought... Yeah, they've played in the previous tour AIA and ES, and in the Black Clouds tour ITNOG, but then... it's just a desert.. TDS, HTF, Vacant and SOC, they're excellents songs to me (maybe someone have already figured that out, ;D)... and they should totally play at least one of these so underrated themes... I can see/hear Vacant and Stream played back to back and I just can die at that moment.. In fact, I WILL die at that moment..

They were.. And the video has a nice edition from multiple cameras..

About the other thing, I disagree..  :-\ I still prefer TSF (not the same with OTBOA) before TGP/TDS.. If they played these two in some tour, they have to... they MUST to play the entire Suite.. Otherwise it would be like teasing great part of the audience..

I don't even know if/when Misunderstood has been played since the SDOIT tour
BCSL tour - but only a couple of nights, between festival gigs, before the album came out. I count myself very lucky to have been at one of them, and it went down an absolute treat. Sketchy 2009 footage, but everyone sung the fuck out of that song, the band absolutely stormed it. A unique and incredible song, and one that's perfect for a live environment.

Not just then - it was played occasionally over most of the Chaos in Motion tour, and then featured on a regular basis during ProgNation 2008. In fact, Misunderstood is on the 2008 Fan Club CD. Surprised Blob forgot that, since I'm sure he has a copy of it complete with the audio from his Dark Nintendo Night clip.
Quote from: BlobVanDam on November 13, 2015, 07:37:14 PMAs a basic rule, if you hate it, you must solely blame Portnoy. If it's good, then you must downplay MP's contribution to the band as not being important anyway, or claim he's just lying. It's the DTF way.

Oh yeah! I've got that too! It's not a bad album either, and I'm glad we've got "Repentance" on there, as well, from its one and only performance.

Nope, I don't even know what you're talking about!
I wasn't aware it was played on those occasions, but I'm glad it's been played a bit.
