Here's my ideal DT video: Well-lit, smallish rehearsal room, empty at the beginning. The band comes in (from coffee break or whatever), chitchats while putting on guitars etc. MM counts in, and they play the song from beginning to end. With all the quirks and minor flubs of a live recording.
That actually sounds like it would be pretty neat.

The clip looks pretty promising, but yeah, holy crap that audio was loud and compressed. I actually had to take my headphones off, and I checked my volume setting to make sure I hadn't accidentally maxed it out. Ouch.

I wondered if they really played the instruments when it was shot.  It would be great to hear *that* performance sometime.

Madman Shepherd

I always think its cheesy when a band does a video of them playing in a room and the vocalist doesn't have a microphone.  In fact, its downright awkward.

Not as awkward as the terrible video for TEI so I guess its a step up.

I still think of A Rite of Passage is the coolest video they have ever done.

Ben_Jamin

I enjoyed TEI video, it fit the lyrics well. The one thing that dragged it down was the talking during the song.

I can't wait for this one.

Dammit, why couldn't it be February 2nd? That's my Birthday!

Normally, I don't think it's that big of a deal. What makes it look really awkward in this paricular footage is those faraway angles of him singing. Like, if the camera was up close, it looks fine. So I'm really hoping that was just behind the scenes footage and the actual video isn't gonna have shots of him singing from far away like that.

But on that note, I'm excited for this video. Them being in the studio like that, reminds me a bit of Another Day or Take the Time.

I dont know man, but I laughed a little for that.

I don't think it's an awkward idea in principle, although it also has to take into account that vocalists are used to performing in front of people with the microphone, so it becomes a part of the performance, and without it, it can be awkward, because they don't know what to do with their hands etc. I think JLB works best with the mic stand, because he can be a bit awkward.

APOCALYPTIC FUN FLAKES! I agree it's possibly their best. The radio edits always hurt their videos though, which they've remedied since ADTOE.

Don't they usually post things at 11 a.m.?  That's what I'm expecting from past new/announcements.  Five minutes, hopefully.  :)

Overall, really cool video, I enjoyed it! Certainly one of their stronger music videos to date.  Nice job DT.  :tup

The video is classy yet powerful -- and Mangini's drumming @ 2:13 is downright sick!

I love the idea of them standing in a room and jamming like in this video -- with no mic for James.  Gives me chills.  Shows how close-knit this group is.  Also, it reminds me of the studio photo in the Awake album where the band is playing together in a little room.

That was a cool video. James looks a bit uncomfortable singing without the microphone.  :lol

Awesome video and song!   Everyone get over the audio already.

Tis BOOLsheet

Mediocre video for a great song. The sound on the video was pretty bad unfortunately. I literally could not hear one thing JR was playing, though I saw his fingers move.

:notsureifserious:  The video I watched had a pretty balanced mix.

Cool vid.  Nothing spectacular, but I enjoyed it.

Pretty good video, which automatically makes it one of DT's best.

I'd add a mic stand, and subtract the hair straightener. What is it with DT straightening their hair for music videos now? It makes JLB look like Jorn. :lol I like that it focused fairly equally on everyone.

And that chick is cute as hell.

Lucidity

Definitely better than DT's other videos. Although I wish the camera was a bit more focused and less frantic, especially when it's showing us what specific members are playing.

JLB looks like the Shroud of Turin reanimated!

?

I find it funny that the Finnish link is at the website of Iltalehti, because it's a tabloid magazine and you can find news about "15 minutes of fame" celebrities there :lol

I enjoyed the video and it's definitely one of the best they've done. The band shots are really cool... and the lady is good-looking :blush

Sacul

The video is weird; the song is pretty upliting and brilliant, but the video looks like a sad, dark tune.

Yay! A DT video that's really good! Oh and yes, that woman is pretty...pretty.

ronrule

Exactly what Blob said. One of their best if not their best video if for no other reason than it's tons of HD shots of them enthusiastically playing their instruments in good lighting on a great song. Way to play to your strengths, DT!

Remaining nitpicks: take away the Ed Hardy shirts, hair dyes and straighteners, and give James a mic.

Just me or does the drumming sound TONS better getting to see it in action?
