Voted -  would be tough to knock off Sabbs and QR.

Voting was easy seeing as it really is my album of the year.

Daso

I believe DT12 is actually the best in that list. Voted and will keep voting.

QR ...?  Quiet Riot released a new album this year?!?!?   :lol

Just messin' with you -- but I do automatically think of Quiet Riot first when I see QR -- too many years as a mod on a Randy Rhoads forum.   ;)

TAC

Quote from: wkiml on June 08, 2012, 09:06:35 AMwould have thought the same thing but seeing the OP was TAC i immediately thought Maiden or DT related
Quote from: Stadler on February 08, 2025, 12:49:43 PMI wouldn't argue this.

I voted, but I'm a little past the point of caring enough to go back and vote every single hour on every device I have.
We all know who the superior band is, or what the superior song is. And unfortunately, the majority of meat-headed Metal audiences will never recognize the greatness of DT, and I don't think some popularity contest poll is going to change that anytime soon, especially one that allows spam-voting.

Sycsa

I see they're stuck with the cover which has that nasty black line. That thing will never die.

Zydar

Finally a poll where The Mountain isn't nominated, so my vote for DT would be easy. Then I saw Infestissumam and it became tough again. Went with DT in the end.

Impermanent Resonance isn't there so I guess I'm voting DT

Zeltar

The margin that Bring Me The Horizon is winning by :zeltar:

Impermanent Resonance isn't on the popularity contest poll? Shocker.

nikatapi

But... it is so much better than DT12.

IMO of course :D

While I would disagree, I think we know that loudwire polls aren't actually about what's 'better'.

...Is any poll?

Well, ideally they should be. I mean, it's all opinion, obviously, but even their cage match polls and whatnot, if it's, a mediocre song from one band, and one of the most acclaimed songs from the other band, people will vote for who their favorite band is, not for which song is better.
You'll see it in the comments all the time. They'd say, "This band is way better!" but the poll isn't about the band, it's about the song. They don't care, though, they just want to rep their favorite band.

Well, that's what we're doing.... I mean, have you heard every other album on the list, and made your choice from that? Or are you just voting for DT?

I mean, this whole thing is just voting for the album you like best... it's just that a lot more people like Black Sabbath and Bring Me The Horizon than like Dream Theater.

Exactly. So all it is is a popularity contest. It doesn't determine which album is better, or even which band is better.

That's why it would be pretty pointless putting Impermanent Resonance, or something more underground on the list, no matter how good it actually may be.

It would have at least one vote :sadpanda:

Or, you could just pretend that because it's not on the list, nobody could vote for it, otherwise it would surely win!

Come on, guys. The metalcore band is winning.

Perpetual Change

Well, Deafhaven - Sunbather was probably my favorite metal album of the year, so...

Joshin U

For the sake of the poll, vote DT! Don't let THAT BAND win...

Bring Me the Horizon, 'Sempiternal'  38.78%

Dream Theater, 'Dream Theater'  18.34%

gentaishinigami

I almost wonder if they artificially pump a band higher than DT so we are forced to come back and spam and make them more money.  I've voted a few times but hard to care much anymore after Loudwire has milked us so much.  At this point DT winning probably pisses off more people there than it brings in.  :'(

Zook

I don't know, I think all the Loudwire polls have actually helped DT out in terms of Grammy noms and more attention in general. I'm sure that awful Black Sabbath song will win the Grammy, but DT might not be far behind in votes, me thinks.
