I don't know, MP was notorious for playing things too fast live.

I wouldn't say notorious at all. There were a few things he played too fast (mostly on ballads), but overall they usually had a great live tempo to the songs. There are a few moments on the recent live releases where I really miss those more fitting live tempos.

He didn't just play ballads too fast.  He played some of their more rocking stuff too fast, too.  And it doesn't seem to have been a conscious decision by the band to have played those songs faster live, because I've heard tons of boots, and it was never consistent.

MP had lots of great characteristics as a drummer/performer, but a consistent sense of tempo was not one of them.

I get the sense that MM wouldn't really need the click to stay at consistent tempos, but if you are going to use pre-recorded bgv, there's no way around it.

I really like MP but it should leave with him.

Here....Here.....never once even remotely considered it funny in any instance it was used. Especially when replacing lyrics to a song.

I didn't mind it at first.  It's in the past now and should stay there, along with Nicky Lemons and Nightmare Cinema.

Yes, but some things are funny/awesome because they're stupid.

Me.

I know Portnoy tries to have fun/do funny stuff in stage, but that was like

*raises hand* Really stupid. And in the groanworthy way, not the "yeah okay, that was stupid and funny" way.

This is me.  At first, I thought it was mildly humorous.  But then it persisted, and became almost an embarassment.
