Some weeks ago I had the idea to compare JLB's performances of some songs through the years.  I've done videos with:

Surrounded https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m6SOm5GWfTg
Metropolis https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8nfun2sYGRI
Peruvian Skies https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TSbTtAOX9yM

Next songs on my list are PMU and TSCO. Ideas for another songs?
So, what do you think about James evolution? IMO, he is in a very good shape these days.

Chaos in Motion is sooooooo bad  haha

Really cool to hear those, and I agree that James sounds better nowadays than he has in many years. I'd be interested to hear A Fortune In Lies. Since he didn't sing on the studio version his live performances compared back to back from Live At The Marquee, Images And Words Live In Toyko, When Dream And Day Reunite, and Live At Luna Park would be fun I think.

Not only that, but A Fortune In Lies is one of the most played DT songs that's been released on DVDs and such, from Live at the Marquee, to live in Tokyo, to WDADRU, to Budokan, and now LALP. It would be a great indicator of his progression.

IIRC, "A Fortune In Lies" wasn't on Live At Budokan.

I still didn't get the chance to see the LALP DVD, but my God, does he sound amazing on this or what? Especially comparing it to Chaos in motion. Had you played me the ''heaven must be more than this...'' bit without telling me where it's from, I would have believed it's from the early 90s, honestly.

Sycsa

Damn, High Voltage runs circles around Luna Park in sound, but looks too (as well as MM hairdo & snare sound). I hope they'll release the rest someday.

nemonius

This was so cool! Really nice to hear LaBrie's progress and the fact that he has his voice back again :) Of course it is different from IaW days but that would natural even without his accident.

Ah yes, it was Only A Matter of Time. I knew it was one of the WDADU bookends.

Setlist Scotty

Interesting idea. But to be honest, I think you'll get a more true sampling of James thru the years if you don't just pick official releases (which are multi-track recorded and can be doctored in the studio) but bootlegs, official and otherwise. There are a number of soundboard bootlegs out there that can be included, which are 2-track recordings which cannot be doctored.
Quote from: BlobVanDam on November 13, 2015, 07:37:14 PMAs a basic rule, if you hate it, you must solely blame Portnoy. If it's good, then you must downplay MP's contribution to the band as not being important anyway, or claim he's just lying. It's the DTF way.

Thanks for the response! I'm working on PMU now. Would you like it to have video of some gigs, or just the sound?

Video is cool, but sound is more important if you find an interesting enough performance for comparison. :)

Sacul

I finished another video, with Pull Me Under. Hope you like it ;D
