How excited are you for Live at Luna Park?

I must say that about a week after DT12 was released, I was actually just as excited for Luna Park as I was for DT12. After I saw the tracklist and heard about the reviews on DTF, I was counting down the days.

As of right now, I'd say that I'm a bit less excited for it than I was for DT12. My current "DT phase" is coming to a conclusion, but I anticipate that it will be on the rise again as we near closer and closer to Luna Park.

I am a huge fan of ADToE, and an even bigger fan of James sounding amazing live. So to me, Luna Park is a very big deal.

How about you?

SeRoX

Just as excited as I was for DT12

DT is one of the band that amazes me with their live performance. Especially, after reading reviews from ones attending at theaters, I am getting even more excited.

adamack

Awesome, that's great to hear! I agree, especially since Score was a near perfect performance. To hear that Luna Park is on that level or better by a majority of those who have seen it, I'm stoked.

mooshinator

At first I was moderately excited, probably slightly less so than for DT12, but then I read about it here and heard a lot of good things about it, particularly about JLB, and now I'm more excited than I was for DT12.  I'm a huge JLB fan, so I can't wait!

Zook

I couldn't give a Fleischmann's F*ck about it.

I want to hear it, but I don't really care when it comes out.

Crow

I never care about live releases. I listened to Score like... once, when I was first getting into the band, but. So yeah, couldn't care less, literally.
turns out signatures are fundamentally broken now so here's my passive-aggressive signature about signatures instead

Nearmyth

I don't usually care much for live releases, but some of the songs they're playing I'm really interested in seeing live (CAUGHT IN A WEB!!!). I voted A Bit Less Excited

Bolsters

I'm not a live-album person, either. I won't be buying any version of LALP at all, at most I might stream a couple of songs on Spotify just out of curiosity.

A little bit less. I'm a sucker for new music, but honestly with THESE WALLS and other amazing songs in the set I can't help but being a tad excited. Also I forget if there's a commentary, but if there is it will be that much more fun to see.

My apologies as I should have been clear, but for the poll I was referring mainly to the LALP video, not really the audio album.

Just wanted to clear that up, as you had mentioned the live album in your post.

To add to that though, I am not a live album person at all either. If I'm going to be listening to a song, I will almost always be listening to the song on the actual LP, save "Hollow Years" which I highly prefer to listen to as a live version.

Daso

I'm a lot less excited than for DT12. I am absolutely sure it will be great, perhaps their best live output ever to my standards, but it's not like I'm counting the days and thinking about it for a considerable part of the day, like it was with DT12. I think the fact that it has not received the same amount of promo as DT12 is one of the main circumstances to it (it shouldn't receive as much, of course, since it's only a live release), and since there are no cinemas playing it in my area, it is pretty hard to even remember it will be released in November.

I think they should've released a song from it or something via YouTube at least, but it's really not the right time to do it considering DT12 was just released and there are no songs from DT12 on it. It would pretty much be doing promo for old material when they have to focus on their latest album.

Oh well, I guess I'm happy that there will be a great live release soon, but I'm not really excited. Just happy.

BlobVanDam

It's been so long, that it's barely on my radar at the moment. I think my excitement for it will be minimal until we actually have the thing, at which point I can't wait to see it.

Rodni Demental

I'm as excited as I was for DT12 but for different reasons. I think I might have been thinking about DT12 a bit more before release in anticipation for something new, but i'm still uber psyched for Live at Luna Park, I've practically watched every live video show I can find in anticipation from the official releases to some of the better fan bootlegs so hopefully I don't burn myself out before it's release.

?

My excitement has gone down due to the numerous delays and I'm more of a studio album person than a live release guy anyway, but I have a feeling I'll be happier with LALP than DT12.

wolven74

I'm a bit less excited for LALP than I was for DT12. Reason being: No new music. I realize it was logistically impossible, due to production difficulties or whatever, but I think it would have been better to release LALP before DT12. Releasing it afterwords is a step backwards, really. We've heard the new music, now we get a new release of old music. That's plain back asswords, that is.

But.... I AM excited to see all the behind the scenes/backstage footage. That's my favorite part of almost all of the live releases. I love seeing the guys goofin' off, laughing, having a blast. And... I'll admit I'm intrigued to see how the show turned out. I didn't make it to a screening, and I live in a concert dead zone, so I missed the tour. :sadpanda:

Overall, not as excited but definitely gonna pick it up. :tup

I really wanted to see DT Luna Park in theaters. I went to see Metallica in IMAX which was just awesome. Seeing DT on IMAX screen would be beyond awesome  :metal

Yeah, this. I was excited until the delay, then i simply stopped caring.

I am very excited and I'm having a hard time understanding why so many people have lost interest in the relase because of the delays. It's not that the content of the DVD got worse because of that, it's just that we had to wait a few months longer to get it, which is understandable and something that happens all the time in the industry.

I have a certain idea of what we are going to get and I really think we should be definitely more excited than this! There were many issues, some of which I suspect have been glossed over by the band and label in official statements. But what matters is that all those problems have been dealt with and the release is less than one month away. We can't go from "whoa this is going to be the best live ever" to "I don't fucking care about this" just because we had to wait 6 months longer than expected (which, again, sucked but it's alright). What should Tool fans do, then?  :lol

I'm sure the DVD will be great, but I'm pretty tired of having to wait for so long.

Well, it's not like we didn't have anything in the meanwhile, both within DT and from other bands. Besides, human lives tend to be rather busier than expected, and time flows faster than one can imagine when he or she sees the deadline sliding away because of a delay.

But again, all those dscussions will look rather pointless in hindsight in a few months or years. LSFNY was delayed too, and took about only two months less than LALP to finally come out, but now it's universally acclaimed for what it is and nobody ever complains again for the long delays anymore

That's exactly why I've lost my excitement :P There have been so many new releases that I haven't even thought about the DVD.

Me too, but I don't interpret it as a loss of excitement, really. It just went back underwater until now or so, and all the excitement has resurfaced unscattered. I just set the clock 6 months forward, no loss of data.

I was very excited until I saw it in the cinema. The mix was awful. When I read some reviews that the BluRay uses a different mix, my excitement level could rise again. Until then, I don't care much. I don't even remember the release date anymore even though I was very hyped prior to seeing it in the cinema.

hefdaddy42

I'm never as excited about a live release as I am about new music (although I love live releases).  I think I would be even less excited about this one given the proximity of the release to the release of the new album, except that I saw it in a theater and I can't wait to get that in my house.

I love watching live DVDs... perfect thing to do while I'm working out in my basement gym.  Very excited about this - moreso than I was for the s/t.  It'll be my first DT blu-ray.  Looking forward to a nice live release, after the debacle that was CiM.  Can't wait to see the vibe from Argentina, the string quartet, the songs that I didn't get the times I saw them live....

I much prefer live DVDs over live albums, then I can actually watch the band perform and not just hear them. The visual aspect of a live performace is lost on a live album for me.

As for my excitement level, I am mildly excited about this. I haven't done any preorder yet, but I'll be getting the blu-ray edition some time soon.

Jinx

After hearing the reports of low keyboard and bass mixes I am a bit cautious and annoyed that it will have taken them so long and they still couldnt get it right

Since Budokan was my entry ticket into DT, a unique, unmatched concert DVD, I was probably a bit more excited for LALP than DT12. After I've read that JR and JM are buried in the mix, that shifted quite a lot, although I still don't think it'll be as bad as some people made it out to be.

Rodni Demental

JP Drowned in the mix?  :lol You'd struggle to believe that one if you've been to a show. ;D

JP is the opposite of drowned in the mix.

The mix is drowned in JP.

I think he meant JR which according to all the reports, is unfortunately true

*JR; obvious typo on my part. I've never heard a rock/metal album (live or otherwise) where the lead guitar was buried in the mix. The bass and keys overpowered everything on a recent Riverside show I've been to though. I didn't mind too much. :)

Tomislav95

Just as excited as I was for DT12. It's first DT live album since I'm fan and I love watching live DVDs and JLB IS GREAT ON IT (according to people that attended cinemas showings). Can't wait.

DarkLord_Lalinc

My excitement was way higher back then in February/March/April when this was supposed to come out in May. I still believe that it was a smarter move to release live versions of the ADTOE songs before DT12 came out, to build up excitement around the release. Remember Score? And how pumped were people for Systematic Chaos after watching Score? The CD sold 10,000 more copies than Octavarium the first week in the US alone, and I believe the amazing band performance in Score had something to do with that.

Either way, I'm still looking forward very much to get the DVD and watching it. I'll probably be more excited once I actually buy it.
