Am I the only one who hears a nod to "Trial of Tears" in the very last chord of "Surrender to Reason"?  'Suppose it makes sense given the lyric writer in both cases.

Sorry if this has been noted a thousand times already.  Couldn't find it in the search...

Don't get this.  The last chord of STR is a C#maj, and the last chord of TOT is an Eb, not sure if major or minor, maybe even a sus.

TAC

Not sure, I'll have to listen to it, but the guitar solo in TBP reminds me of the one in LITS.
Quote from: wkiml on June 08, 2012, 09:06:35 AMwould have thought the same thing but seeing the OP was TAC i immediately thought Maiden or DT related
Quote from: Stadler on February 08, 2025, 12:49:43 PMI wouldn't argue this.

I don't hear any such nod, and if there was one it wouldn't have anything to do with who wrote the lyrics.  All of the music is written before any of the lyrics, or even before who gets picked to do the lyrics for each song.

Nefarius

It's a chord ringing out and flowing into an atmospheric keyboard patch that's not too far away from the TOT intro sound and there's sparkly effects whirling through the air. There's definitely a little TOT feel there, but I'm not sure if it's a nod or not. Nod or not sounds cool by the way. :)

Greetings...

?

This obviously means that TOT will be played on the upcoming tour!!!111!11 :metal :caffeine:

Ok, it doesn't, but I'd be happy if they did play it :)

Sorry, I wasn't clear.  The part in "Trial of Tears" I was thinking of is the last chord before the start of the middle section.  Here's an A - B comparison (A is STR and B is TOT).

They're not the same pitches, but they seem to have the same arrangement, voicing, and overall "sound".
