I'm just checking out Ytse Jam for the first time now and have only heard Raw Dog once so it will be hard to rank them...

As for the rest :

Overture 1928 rates pretty high on my list as does The Dance OF Eternity and Stream Of Consciousness.

False Awakening is great as an album opener and The Enigma Machine is a lot of fun.

I think my top instrumental would be Hell's Kitchen though and i'm not too keen on Erotomania.

Tentatively... the bottom three are probably right where I'd keep them, and the same goes with the top 3, especially with SOC and TEM being stand alone instrumentals.

In fact, only half of these happen to be stand alone instrumentals and not part of anything greater, or from anything else - Eve, YJ, TEM, FAS, SOC and RD. The rest are part of a concept/longer suite/epic, etc.

In that case, ranking JUST those five...

The instrumentals on SFAM are easily the best, Overture 1928 is just perfect, both as a stand-alone song and (especially) in the context of the album. TDOE is the go-to song whenever I want to showcase Jordan Rudess' taste and talent (great sounds, great playing), although it goes a bit downhill after the bass solo. Enigma Machine is an easy pick for the third spot (Hammond!). Then come Erotomania(Hammond!), Hell's Kitchen (though I never listen to it without Lines in the Sand). Don't care too much for the rest, but they're all solid.

Can somebody explain to me on a few words with a concrete, reasonable and a logic explanation, why the hate towards raw dog?

I really think they hit the nail on the head with the instrumentals on DT12. Instant classics.

It just sounds un-inspired and thrown together quickly.

Alright, I don't usually care for the instrumentals, so I'm going to try this without relistening to any of them.

1. Stream of Consciousness
2. Erotomania
3. The Dance of Eternity

11. The Rest

I seriously don't remember any besides those three. They just aren't memorable. Granted, Enigma Machine is brand-spanking new, so it may grow on me, but for now, those three are the only instrumental that I can even remember.

I can't be bothered - but could someone find out how long all that would come to on an album ? Might be cool to make a CD for people who love the music but aren't into the vocals. :)

I'm only doing studio albums here, so no eve or raw dog. And overture is part of SDOIT, not an individual song. If this was the case I would have the first five minutes of TCOT as my fav.

I don't have my rating list done yet...
Even though i think i'd put Raw Dog on my top 5, it has a very high quality "Raw" metal sound. :metal
Something like:
                          "So energy, power!!"

Im not saying that, I mean there are some stuff that may be ok, some cool riffs here, some keyboards there, some drum fills quite ok,  it might sound more like a warming up jam for a DT rehearsal but I don't see it terrible.

Erotomania (Perfect. No faults whatsoever. Fun song with cool riffs and a badass shredding solo)
The Dance of Eternity (Craziest time signature work ever. Fun song.)
Overture 1928 (Fantastic overture with great melodies.)
The Enigma Machine (Haven't heard a ton yet, but really cool song!)
Ytse Jam (I always say WDADU would be a great album without the terrible vocals. This solves that problem.)
Hell's Kitchen (Really cool, chill instrumental. Shame it's kind of an opening for the not-so-good tune that comes next.)
Eve (Haven't listened to this one in a while, but it's pretty alright. Not great, not bad.)
Overture (Cool opening. As a stand-alone it's pretty useless, but it's nice in the context of the epic.)

----super-duper ginormo-gap----

Raw Dog (Just a pretty boring one, really.)
False Awakening Suite (Cheesy and kinda pointless.)
Stream of Conciousness (First 3 or so minutes are cool. The rest I can't even remember. It just meanders off into pointlessness with no redeeming value.)

1.Hells Kitchen (Just amazing. Beautiful instrumental, which kicks off a monster next track on FII)

2.Overture 1928 (Awesome opener, and shows all the heart and soul of a splendid album that follows it)

3.False Awakening Suite (I LOVE this opener, will be a monster live... just hard hitting, cinematic, and straight to the point. Very epic feel)

4.Erotomania (Totally mental, and just SO Dream Theater.. love the slower silent man section..)

5.Overture (A great summary of 6 degrees, if a little Disney sounding at times.. Very well suited with the orchestra in Score)

6.Dance Of Eternity (Superbly technical, have always tended to lose a little interest with it in parts tho. Well placed in SFAM though..)

7.Enigma Machine (Really clicking with me of late, and I expect it to climb. I really like it, and has some super riffage..)

8.Ytse Jam (I love the main riff, really love it, I just find YJ a tad repetitive. Having said that, it's as cool as all hell)

9.Eve (very pretty, and particularly nice, I simply just find others better. Definitely perfect in the right mood and setting)

10.Stream Of Consciousness (Much like Ytse Jam - great riff, just a tad repetitive, and this one goes on just a little too long for me. Great atmosphere when listening to TOT in its entirety though..)

11.Raw Dog (nothing horrible, just a fairly quickly put together bit of riffage, which serves its purpose for a video game soundtrack)

This. JP said they used some leftover riffs from the BC&SL sessions and you can hear that... :\
