Can somebody explain to me on a few words with a concrete, reasonable and a logic explanation, why the hate towards raw dog?

Because it's the cool thing to do.
Come on, you can do better than that.

Most of the top 7 could be interchangeable (apart from Ytsejam) but all are head and shoulders ahead of the number 9 for me! Cannot get any part of it in my head at all no matter how many listens to it I have. Doesn't flow, no theme or grove to it either, totally dispensable I.M.O.

Hell's Kitchen (Really cool, chill instrumental. Shame it's kind of an opening for the not-so-good tune that comes next.)

The first part of this quote I agree with. Hell's kitchen does have that sort of chilled but dark feel at the beginning that I'd like DT to explore more but!....
The second part of your comment made me want to cry. There is nothing about lines in the sand that isn't awesome.

krands85

The top 5 are very tough to order - like in the 'rank the <4 minute songs' thread, these tracks could be in a different order on another day. Also, I'm not completely familiar with EM yet, so it could rise 2-3 places maybe.

It's by far my favourite song on FII and perhaps my 2nd favourite DT song overall.  :tup

Raw Dog gets tons of criticism/hate because it is not that good of a song.  It's that simple, really.

Anyway....

1. Erotomania
2. Hell's Kitchen
3. Overture 1928
4. Stream of Consciousness
5. Ytse Jam
6. Eve
7. The Dance of Eternity
8. 6DOIT Overture

Raw Dog

Hell's Kitchen is my favorite. Enigma Machine and Ytse Jam have certain similarities, I think both are equally good, and just as good as Eve. I like Overture 1928 and Erotomania more than The Dance of Eternity. Stream of Consciousness is almost as good as TDoE but I enjoy how the band shows off more in TDoE, even considering how catchy SoC is. Overture and FAS were both written to serve a purpose and both do it well, but neither are as good as the other instrumentals and, well, I only heard Raw Dog once and it was below every other instrumental and served no purpose, so it ranks as the worse.

Kotowboy

I listened to Ytse Jam & Raw Dog again for this poll and Raw Dog is still easily the worst.

I've not heard Eve.

Eve is really pretty.  I would rate it highly.

Enigma Machine is probably my least favorite instrumental of theirs.  It is not very memorable IMO.

I wish they scrapped Enigma Machine and replaced it with a song with lyrics on the album.  It would have made the album feel more complete.  I like the new album.....it just feels like it needs another song.

TBH I actually kinda like Raw Dog. When in context of that it's a fighting music. Meant to be played when you're fighting an epic battle.

KevShmev

FYI, there is no "The" in the title of Enigma Machine.  Sorry to be like that, but that bugs me, seeing so many incorrectly had a "The" to it. :lol

1.  Stream Of Consciousness - Didn't really like this one for the longest time.  It really clicked after seeting it live on tour and then again on L@B.  It's only flaw is that it feels a bit too long.
2.  Erotomania - Really creative and innovative for its time.
3.  Ytse Jam - Same.  It's amazing that they created something so cool that is such a signature DT instrumental so early on.
4.  Overture 1928 - It's hard to rank an overture as highly as standalone instrumentals.  But it really is quite good and sets up the album very well.
5.  The Dance Of Eternity - Not something I actively feel a desire to listen to much, but the musical showmanship is amazing, as are the nods to Metropolis pt. 1.
6.  Raw Dog - It has a few cool moments.
7.  Hell's Kitchen - Well...it's a nice intro to Lines In The Sand, Anyway.  Would be better if not so repetitive and one-dimensional.
8.  Eve - I was always taught that if you can't say anything nice, not to say anything at all.  I just won't say anything at all.

So that leaves The Enigma Machine and False Awakening Suite.  I haven't really had them long enough to feel like I can rank them fairly.  But I like both.  I would probably put False Awakening Suite between TDOE and Raw Dog, and maybe above TDOE.  It's a nice little piece of music.  It's great as an intro, but not really meant to stand on its own either.  It's more a "transition piece" than a song to consider in its own right.  Not sure where to put Enigma Machine.  Probably either just before or just after Overture 1928, but not sure.

I'm not ranking Overture because it's silly to pick out instrumental parts of songs and try to rank them against other songs.  And given that it's the only one on the list, that seems pretty arbitrary to me.

Guitar solo is great. The rest I find boring, or in the chorus' case, just cringeworthy.

While I can't say cringeworthy I used to think that same thing in my first years after discovering DT (That Britney Spears and will I Am song is cringeworthy. Personally I've never found a DT song that has ever made me cringe, not even You Not Me); and I have to say Lines in the Sand is probably the DT song that has grown on me the most over the years. It went from "Boring and unmemorable" to my favorite song in FII after Hell's Kitchen.

No, but really, Raw Dog becomes a fun, enjoyable song on the three minute and twenty mark. What comes before it (And the Outro) is what kills the song IMO.
