My apologies if this poll has been done already.  I looked and didn't see it elsewhere.  I had to go with "The Bigger Picture."  It's gorgeous and powerful and majestic and I'm totally obsessed with it right now.  Yours?

Surrender To Reason for me. It's a great song, nice melodies from everyone, it's a definite DT tune. Some great basslines as well.

First it was The Looking Glass.  But a day later it was The Bigger Picture.   But now I can't get Behind the Veil out of my head.   And then there is Illumination Theory which hasn't totally sunk in yet.

I seriously can't decide.  It's too soon.

The Bigger Picture. It blew me away on the first listen and has only gotten better since. Best song I've heard in a long time.

At the moment, I cannot get Surrender to Reason out of my head. I still get goosebumps every time the guitar melody after the first chorus comes in.

I know lots of people are really loving "The Bigger Picture", but I'm just not feeling it. It's a good song no doubt, but it doesn't seem to rise above the other tracks around it. IT is the only one that feels heads and shoulders above the rest.

I voted Behind The Veil. IMO, it has the best chorus on the album, with Surrender To Reason being just a hair behind. And it has the most kick ass riff on the album, and they arranged it perfectly. Oh, and far and away one of my favorite pre-chorus sections of any DT song. ("I am finding courage in my darkest hour" part.)

Surrender To Reason, Illumination Theory, and The Bigger Picture are all making cases to claim the #1 spot in the near future.

And something magical happened today while I was out for a run. I listened to the whole album, and I got goosebumps while listening to Along For The Ride. To me, this song is DEFINITELY much better in the context of the album. I love when that happens.

I'm even starting to warm up to Enigma Machine and False Awakening Suite. Not that they were ever bad by any means, but to me they were just a bit underwhelming at first.

And I even like The Looking Glass a bit more than I did at first!  :o

The album is wonderful.  :heart

The Bigger Picture is the only song on the album that I could take or leave. It just seems a little too straight forward for a DT song.

I love every other song and would rate them all either 9/10 or 10/10 but IT is just mind boggling. Only time will tell but I feel like
it's equal to DT's best work ever. The middle section just floors me with how beautiful it is.

Right now I would say The Bigger Picture. That song is just pure magic.

Illumination Theory easily.

This. Have you guys ever been so amazed by something you are both laughing and crying at the same time? The ending of IT where Mike hits the gong does that to me.

Really hard to answer the poll at this point (so I won't yet!), but at the moment my favorite is The Looking Glass. I still need Surrender to Reason to sink in better: there's a lot in this song to enjoy, but I haven't listened to it enough times or in the necessary moods.

Also, Illumination Theory would beat them all, it already is in my Top 5 and I know it will stay there for good, but I won't vote for it precisely because of that  :lol None of the songs compare to it, but exactly because of it being something on a whole other level I think it would be unfair to take it into consideration for saying which song is my favorite.

The prog-snob in me picked "Illumination Theory", being the long epic of the album, and I really REALLY do love it, but the shorter songs are pretty good, too.

I will say, though, at the moment, I know that the two instrumentals aren't near the top, and "Along For The Ride" and "The Enemy Inside" are in the middle, and not just because they were pre-released as singles, but I just find that the others are as good if not a bit better than them, although TEI still blows me away.

I'd have to give props to "Behind The Veil" and "The Bigger Picture", and I love the Rush-feel of "The Looking Glass" and "Surrender To Reason".

Honestly, there's a LOT to like about each song, but as it stands, I'd say TI is still at the top, and it probably will remain there for awhile.

Dark Castle

Illumination Theory for me, but Behind The Veil is a close second, it's just hard to compete with a perfect 19 minute epic  :P

Illumination Theory, but I really like Surrender To Reason as well. Those were the only two tracks that I actually dug on the first listen, although quite a few other tracks are starting to become very likable to me.

I voted IT... But its hard to pick just one so early on!

Ruba

I thought I wouldn't vote after one listen, but I don't see any other song coming even near the greatness of Illumination Theory.

kirksnosehair

I'll tentatively pick Illumination Theory for now.  Need more time with it to make a solid selection

Podaar

Because of 3:40 through 5:00 I'm leaning toward Surrender to Reason. I don't dare pick yet because I'm sure I'll choose different tomorrow!  :lol
