Very sweet, I should be able to squeeze in a full listen before work. :metal

Sounds like something else you squeeze in before work.

Monday night after work I will crank it! (Stay away from this line RJ!)

Better lube that old rusty fucker up first, otherwise you might end up in traction.

(Stay away...yeah, right)

Thought my jaw was about to hit the floor when I saw this tiny, yet massive, bit of news.  :omg:

And that week can't get any better now. Full album stream on Monday and GTA V on Wednesday, including some great stuff later on too..  :hefdaddy

Don't forget Luna Park!  I'll be seeing it Thursday at the theater.  If I can pull myself away from GTAV...

mikemangioy

even if it's up just 24 h, someone is going to recordit and upload it to youtube.

Daso

Fucking great news! I just hope the stream quality is good. Even Rudess agrees that the soundcloud quality for Along For The Ride's stream was not good enough, so I expect the album won't be streaming that way as well!

Btw, Wasnt it JP who said they would release the album as a whole instead of seperated tracks, one by one, so you have a "fresh" listening experience when you pop in the CD?

And now? A single gets released, then a semi-single, then the full album, the latter two in "preview" quality  ???

I'm not gonna listen. I was looking forward to the day i get my deluxe edition from the mailbox, pop it in and enjoy the fresh new music.. I won't have that taken away from me!!!!!  :metal

Wow, this is a huge leap in the dark. I think I would have preferred they not do this. It essentially means they are leaking their own album with really poor sound quality. And you know someone is going to record it and post it on youtube or something, defeating the purpose of only having it up for 24 hours.

I hear you.  And I mostly agree.  I would guess that the band are less than thrilled about it as well, and that it is Roadrunner pushing for it since it has become the norm for a lot of bands to stream their albums before release now.  The problem is that if a lot of other bands are marketing that way, it becomes an expectation that others will too.

TheAtliator

because as we all know, DT is the type of band to follow trends and only do what's normal in the industry... ;P

But yea, I think Bosk is probably at least partially right about that. I'm sure it's good to keep your label happy by compromising with some release details, rather than having to compromise the music, which DT would never do.

MoraWintersoul

I think this is a great move. LOADS of people I know will check out a release if their metal news sources tell them it's up on stream even if they wouldn't care or remember to download it off the internet (let alone buy it) when it's out, just out of curiosity.

:lol

I'm not sure yet if I'll listen to the stream. I have to finish my Bachelor thesis on Monday and I fear that the quality of the stream (both sound quality and lag-wise) could be bad, so perhaps I'll just wait for my CD copy.

atmyne

can't wait to hear this streamed @ 64 kbps and the aftermath of people complaining and voicing their disdain for the mixing :neverusethis:
I think I'll wait 'till a good copy of the album is available...

I was thinking something similar. Definitely a good move by DT and RR. I'm all for DT spreading their music in ways that might earn them paying fans down the line.

Grizz

I've determined that I'm not gonna do it.

I've hardly noticed this. What I have noticed, however, is albums that get leaked almost certainly have a stream up a few hours later for people to *legally* listen through. Almost as if they are expecting the album to be leaked by Monday...

Dream_Theater01

I hope this album is as good as I think it will be.  "The Enemy Inside" hasn't grown on me yet...but I do like "Along For The Ride".

GasparXR

I'm going to listen to it, but only once. After that, I will wait for the album to arrive.

Onno

I won't be listening, gonna wait for the CD.

Orthogonal

The stream site is going to be hammered, hope it can stay up.

DTF is going to be hammered, hope it can handle the load, the 1K simultaneous online record is going to be demolished.

That's like eating one potato chip. It can't be done.

Tis BOOLsheet

I highly doubt the website will be able to handle the traffic. It'll probably crash and be unavailable for an hour or so. I'll listen to the entire album Monday. The sound quality will not be as good as the album, but it's not going to make a well produced album sound like crap. The reasons why people are complaining about the sound will still be present on the physical copy.

badger

I'll wait.

I've listened to "enemy inside" and that's it.  I want the experience to be at it's best.

GTA V and the new consoles are coming out next week?!!?!? OMG I thought they weren't coming out until Christmas. Or wait...GTA V IS for PS4 and XBox One isn't it??

But back to the subject at hand....there's no way I'll be able to restrain myself from listening Monday!!! I'm a producer so I value the sh*t out of good sound quality, but I value the sh*t out of amazing music even more.

So despite any sound quality sacrifice I'm gonna be rockin it with you who choose to do the same!  :metal :metal :metal
