I really doubt this is true :lol

And   Alter Bridge sucks btw ;)

BlobVanDam

Two singers and two guitarists. Yeah, this is definitely a real thing.

Accelerando

I don't think it's true either, but the fact that these are doing some sort of promo still excites me? Being that Tremonti and Petrucci are two of my favorite guitarists, and Kennedy and Labrie are two of my favorite vocalists posing for pictures, together, excites me?

Besides....this would be an awesome acoustic side project.

It's possible  ;)

Zydar

If they need a bass player, I'm ready. Call me maybe :P

I am going to suggest the following names for this new supergroup:

Tight Fit
Hot Pants
Hot Fit
Tight Pants
Captain Adercrombie's Experimental Hat & Comb Band.

I think any of these are viable names.

cyberdrummer

Onno

Off to watch the movie with my brother tonight! And his gf. I'm playing gooseberry. AHAAA!!!!

Glen Ponda Shredding!!!  :metal

Actually no, they are a pretty fucking amazing band.

TAC

I have Blackbird, and I have NO idea why people are so gaga over Alterbridge.
Quote from: wkiml on June 08, 2012, 09:06:35 AMwould have thought the same thing but seeing the OP was TAC i immediately thought Maiden or DT related
Quote from: Stadler on February 08, 2025, 12:49:43 PMI wouldn't argue this.

I have Blackbird and III. While I enjoy both albums, yeah, I don't get the hype.

I have been a long time AB fan, since they put out their first record.  I have always found their music to a refreshing blend of styles, but I guess it just comes down to personal preference!

As far as all these pics of DT and AB together, I'd love to think its something more than just album PR, but that's probably all it is.  AB and DT both happen to have album listening parties hosted by Road Runner in the same location, so I'm sure Road Runner wanted to take advantage of members of two of their more popular groups (especially in the UK and Europe) being in the same place at the same time, and just wanted some pictures for online hype.

Never the less, really cool seeing pics of all these guys together, as a big fan of both bands, Road Runner has successfully hyped me up for both album releases even more!!

Some of these sound like something Justin Hawkins of the Darkness would name his side groups.

I also have the first three Creed albums. My enjoyment of Alter Bridge primarily revolves around appreciation for how those guys managed to jump of that sinking ship and reinvent themselves, by committing to mastering their own instruments and becoming more cohesive as a band.

The guys getting back with Stapp bothers me. Stapp is completely toxic.

I basically agree with everything you just said.  The guys, especially Mark, really concentrated at mastering their craft and letting their musicianship shine through with AB.  And also they managed to snag Myles Kennedy, who I think is absolutely brilliant as a singer, guitarist, writer, etc... For those on this forum who aren't familiar with Myles' guitar abilities, he actually started off as a guitar player primarily and became a singer later on in his career.  The dude can totally tear it up on guitar!  :metal

He's a good guitarist and a good singer.  I don't care for his voice or his present band, but it's more a matter of personal preference vs. them not being talented.  But despite not liking Myles' voice, I admit that he's got some good range and power.  And the stuff he did in Rock Star was very cool.

MoraWintersoul

Myles is one of the best rock voices in recent memory.

This, without a doubt.

lyfeternl

I am a big fan of both bands (have followed AB since Creed), but DT is still #1

Though, Myles Kennedy is one of the best rock frontmen I have ever heard. His voice and guitar skills are pretty solid and Mark Tremonti has come a LONG way since Creed with his playing abilities and songwriting.

Not really feeling The Firewires as the name. They need something sweet like, The Brewery Cats or something  ;)
Thrill Gang
Caffeine Crew

I hopefully saw him and Alter Bridge on a bad night then, because he was horrible when I saw him, it was like he didn't even give a shit about putting on a good show.

wolfking

I've loved AB since the first album too, that was one of the greatest musical disoveries, terrific album.  I really like Myles but after Tremonti's album, I prefer his voice to his own sound.  Still looking forward to the new album though.

Nah. He's pretty good, but I definitely wouldn't go that far.

Madman Shepherd

Myles Kennedy was great in the movie Rock Star.  Just a great, emotional part where a man fulfills is wildest dreams of replacing the dumb singer of a shitty band mid-show.

I'm tearing up just thinking about it.

Steel Dragon > Alter Bridge

The sad part is Marky Mark giving up the awesome rockstar life for a shitty coffee house acoustic gig and settling for Jennifer Aniston. That makes me tear up every time. :(

Oh I don't know... For Jennifer Aniston... Pretty tempting.

Each to his own. Never thought much of her even back in the day. Even aside from that, it was still a sad ending for me. He cut his hair and started playing wimpy acoustic crap.

Could've been worse. He could have gave in to the rock and roll lifestyle and overdosed.
But the way they set up the story, if he stayed with her, and stayed in the band, it would've been a little too neat. It's like, "Well, now everything's good. He's living out his dream, and is clean off drugs and groupies, and still with his sweetheart. And they lived happily ever after."

Yay!!!! Everyone wins!!!!!

Indeed, it could have been worse.  He could have been Johnny in the last part of Bad Company's Shooting Star.

I was actually going to end my post with "It would have been a happier ending if he OD'ed on coke backstage and died". :lol

But not groupies, not Jennifer Aniston.

By the way, am I wrong? Or were all the songs on it actually songs performed by other bands? I felt like I've heard "Steel Dragon" songs before, from other artists.

Well, I'm looking at the wikipedia on the movie and some of the songs (if not all) sang by Steel Dragon have been played by other artists.  I want to know where Stand Up and Shout came from.  It sounds like such a great tune and Myles busts out the "Stand up and Shout!!!!!!!" part so well, when anyone mentions to him about his part in Rock Star.

Edit: NVM, I found it.  Sammy Hagar (or was it Steelheart?) probably created it for the movie.
