I have to say I'm really surprised at myself that I ended up voting for A7X. It all came down to which song I'm enjoying more. I can crank up Hail to the king, sit back and really just enjoy the song. TEI's sound is preventing me from enjoying it to the fullest. But both songs have grown on me after listening to them more and I like both of them, but the production gives A7X the edge here.

The shitty smug comments here makes me want to notify https://deathbatnews.com/ of this poll...

But then I recall A7X fans being much worse in the past.

Still 61%, I'm surprised DT fans are reppin' this hard, I thought A7X fans would be there in force. Voted for DT, of course, The Enemy Inside goes.

A7X fans are still sleeping after a heavy nite of Pizza delivery and COD on Xbox.

And all the DT fans have nothing better to do than sit at the computer clicking internet polls, right? :neverusethis:

DING DING DING. WINNER!

TheGreatPretender

You know, if JP won against Dimebag, that would have been a real accomplishment, they were so close, and it was so climactic.

This? Feels like taking candy from a baby. It's like, it's awesome we won, but... Doesn't feel like that much of an accomplishment.

chrisbDTM

...it's not an accomplishment at all. Pretty dumb actually no matter what way you look at it. Loudwire is the only party that "wins"

YEA DT NUMBER ONE. BRAGGING RIGHTS ON AN INTERNET POLL. WEEEEE AREEEE THEE CHAMPIONNNSS

Lucien

It also makes the DT fanbase look like total jerks due to some of the comments

Zook

I'd say the comments are 50/50. So much immaturity.

I didn't read through these 3 pages. But holy jesus....that's A7X's new single? It's SO BORING. Can that drummer even play the old stuff?

Mrr, sorry if that sounded rude. I'm sure the drummer Can play more complex stuff. But man...how could the band even be ok with playing anything like that? I was a huge fan of Waking the Fallen, and most of City of Evil....the self-titled was meh to me, so I never even gave Nightmare a listen all the way through, despite MP being the drummer. I think I fell of the A7X fan boat around the time I became obsessed with DT.... ;) I heard Nightmare was pretty good, and I imagine it was at least decent with MP drumming, but this new single...damn. I'm seriously a little shocked at how over-simplified it is. Music of simpletons, for simpletons?

EDIT: Apparently I'm feeling bitchy in general today :lol

I made a similar comment (although more tactfully worded) in the A7X thread, and there was a lot of discussion there about it.  The drumming is annoyingly simplistic, but apparently, that is exactly what they were going for.

Probably fed up with the The Rev vs MP vs "New random guy" comparisons. Let's hire a drum machine, set it to 4/4's, RECORD! haha

Jaffa

Hail to the King sounds like it was written to be Triple H's theme song or something.

I mean, even the fills...I think it was the exact same dang fill every single verse and chorus. And it's like, 8th notes...

Seeing as I have never heard their new drummer play anything, I wouldn't know; but IF he is actually capable of playing the old stuff, I can't believe he agreed to drum like that on the new record. Just wow.

FourthHorseman

As an A7X fan.. I like the new song, as far as vocals, guitars, but the drumming is seriously disappointing.  :tdwn My hope is that Hail to the King is the only song on the album that is so freaking boring on drums.

Compare this song to "Bat Country" and "Welcome to the Family"

What a shame.

senecadawg2

91% so far. Though it's just begun, DT should win this one too.

Am I the only one who finds the title of Saliva's song hilariously ironic?

aprilethereal

Only 88.85% anymore, keep voting guys :dangerwillrobinson: ;D

wolfking

That A7X song was pretty good.  I might check out the album.

Never listened to Saliva before, and never will again. I only made it in about 30 seconds before I realized that I couldn't stand it. How annoying

Time to change thread title?

Haha it might be!

Just voted for DT, still at 88.6%... I see DT blowing this one out with a big win! :tup

?

I've never even heard of Saliva, so they probably have a smaller fanbase than A7X and should be (even) easier to beat.

Nekov

Even though I don't really enjoy TEI, it's better than that Saliva song so voting for DT.

Now, how does DT compare to this band? Why are they being measured against a band that has very little in common with them? Should I worry that DT will ultimately become just another metal band that will still throw some prog in there to please their fans? (That question is based on TEI which kinda sounds like any metal band out there today, only with prog thrown in-between)

I've never even heard of Saliva,

It's this stuff in your mouth that helps you chew food and start the digestion process.

Seriously though, I wouldn't be surprised if we lost this, haha. The old Tortoise and the Hare story. DT fans are like, "We're at 90%, nothing to worry about" and simply don't bother voting.

The Boomr

Is it a bad sign that they keep pitting DT against washed-up has-been (imo) rock/numetal bands? :/

Strange....

They're in it to win it! They're hardcore like that!

All good questions I worry about myself. I'm pretty disgusted with the Saliva song, and it's insulting to have DT's music compared to them. I just hope it's not foreshadowing the future of DT music.
