Apparently, I'm going to be having a busy day on Tuesday - I've just seen this from the publishers Facebook feed!

So if you have any burning questions, then either post them here or on the Facebook page of Dream Theater Book Lifting Shadows or Rocket88.

"Want to know more about new Dream Theater book Lifting Shadows? Post a question here for author Rich Wilson he will answer as many as he can on Tue July 9"

The book can be pre-ordered at www.liftingshadows.com

Shadow2222

Haha, nice way to find out, right?

Okay, I'll ask a question: You probably have answered this before, but roughly how many pages are there in the new chapters?

TheAtliator

Thanks for giving us this opportunity! I have a couple-

1- Did any chapters other than the side projects get shortened when the new chapter was added? (I hope not!)
2- How long ago were the band members interviewed to get all the info for the book? Was it all at once, and was it for the sole purpose of this book? Just wondering  :)

Zook

This was asked by someone else, but was Mike Portnoy's forward omitted for this version?

ZKX-2099

Are you able to just send me a copy of DT12?

Rhayader

1- Will there be a hardcover version of the book?

Big Hath

any chance for a pdf version of the side-projects section that was cut?

What are the most recent events covered by the books?

Sycsa

What drove you to write this book in the first place? :)

Chino

Will there be a DT coloring and/or pop-up book in the future?

Nick

Given the popularity of the A Song of Fire and Ice series, do you plan on killing off any characters?

Well, those books are all about a change of seasons :neverusethis:

Does it go any deeper into the split than what we saw in the public realm, thusfar?

Any chance for a Kobo version?

I would like to generalize this: Any chance for any digital version?

Well, not from MP's perspective at least.

Well, maybe MP was cool about it and wanted to share insight.

nobloodyname

No, sorry, there's no new interview with him.

BlobVanDam

How do you know that? (did I miss some info there?)

Kobo digital books are specific to Kobo eReaders. : )

Rich answered a question I posed at VUK.

This question: "John Arthur Miles: I saw Mike Portnoy interviewed on a US rock show and he stated that at the end of the Black Clouds world Tour in Tokyo after DT's last gig in 2010, he suggested that the band members all have a huge tour-ending meal and bond session. He then said that one member whom he wouldn't name, came to this party with earphones on and music blasting giving the distinct impression that they'd rather be anywhere else but there. Who was this band member? I'm guessing James, but MP went on to say that this was the final straw as to how it felt non-harmoniously within the band at the time, and made his decision to call a then hiatus a certainty."

Wasn't it confirmed somewhere that it was John Myung?

TheAtliator

:) wow, thank you for answering my big long question Rich!! Unlinke most people when interviewed, he actually answered every piece directly. Thank you!!

Rich Wilson

I must admit, I really enjoyed doing that! Thanks for the questions. I know I was vague on some of them, but it is hard to know the full internal workings of the band from this far away!!

I'd still love to know the answer to this.

Rich,

my question for you: I lent my copy of a Lifting Shadows to someone, but can't remember who it was.

Who was it?!!!

ytserush

Thanks for making yourself available, Rich. (And thanks for taking the time to update it.)

Found out about this too late.

Any information on have they may have changed they've approached the live show due to the switch?

Not necessarily set changes, but how they might approach performing.....

Victor Alexandrov

I'm quite disappointed with the negative answer for an ebook version.

erasiel

Rich - any chance of making the omitted chapter on side projects available in digital version? Perhaps as a bonus for those who pre-order? I know the information is out of date on that chapter, but the completist in me really wants to read that bit!

Moonchild

who is the kid model of the images and words cover? Is she hot nowadays?  :yarr

I've done some research mate, and it turns out it was Kevin Moore. Suspect he might have binned it!!
