I'll be meeting up with Jordan this wednesday and thursday at the Frankfurter Messe and we arranged a small q/a through the fb page of The Wheel. So if you guys have questions for the Wiz, post them in this topic.

Cya,
Jeroen

What it is like playing with Steven Wilson (live and on several of his solo albums)?  Is he specific about toning down the flash and super fast playing, or does he trust that you know what works best with his style?

Marion Crane

Has he every tried playing the keyboard parts to On the Backs of Angels in Rockband and how did he do?  Can he post a vid of it?

wasteland

Well, there must be the mandatory update for his plans for the next solo records and the release of the Explorations For Keyboard and Orchestra.

Another few off my mind:

- Is there a particular song from the pre-Jordan catalogue that you found you could connect to musically more than the usual?
- You have now been in Dream Theater for 14 years. How would you say your role within the band has changed since 1999?
- In your 14 years of touring, is there a particular gig that stood out from the rest?
- What do you think is the ultimate role and importance of the keyboards within the core sound of DT?

?

If you were forced to pick one DT album you have played on that would be erased from the discography, which one would it be?

Which pre-SFAM song is the most difficult one to play?

Which 3 DT songs give the best overall picture of your playing?

emtee

Honestly I would ask him how much longer he plans on doing the DT gig. I'm sure he has thought about it, even if not to
often. We all think about retirement when we reach a certain point in our lives. 2 more albums and tour cycles? Maybe 3?
And if he has thought about it I'd ask him what the next phase might be.

Good luck with the interview.

Lolzeez

Which DT song do you enjoy playing the most?
Which DT album makes you proud that you were involved?
Any news for a new solo album?

nikatapi

Does he feel that he fully expresses himself through DT's music, or do the limits of the "DT sound" make him feel a bit restricted some times?

Big Hath

What is your favorite 3 album run of DT?

then

What is your favorite 4 album run of DT?

. . .

What is your favorite 10 album run of DT?

:)

JayOctavarium

Do you regret not joing DT back in '94?

robwebster

You must be well into the writing sessions for DT12 by now - can you give us a teaser about any of the songs on the album? What's new that we can look forward to?

TheAtliator

Since you have perfect pitch and a great voice, will you, and maybe Mike Mangini, start doing background vocals live so that there isn't a need for tracks anymore?

it's funny, of EVERYTHING in a DT song, you'd think that would be the easiest part to do live.

Elite

What's your LEAST favourite DT song to play?

^yes, that's a serious question.
Quote from: Lolzeez on November 18, 2013, 01:23:32 PMHey dude slow the fuck down so we can finish together at the same time.

Epic questions! I can't think of one myself right now since the good ones have already been asked. I'm really looking forward to hearing/reading that interview :)

rumborak

Have you ever played so fast that the notes of the end of the song arrived before the ones of the beginning? Or does that happen regularly so that you actually learn all songs backwards?

ddtonfire

WEHN DT COME TO INDONESIA!?!!!???

But in all seriousness:
How do you challenge each other musically in DT?
and
Is DT one big happy family with the wives and kids, too?

Maybe, but trying to do it while you're playing the difficult instrumental portion would not be easy.

reneranucci

During gigs, are you usually 100% concentrated on what you're playing, or can you actually think about what's for dinner or why JM always wears black clothes while playing Metropolist pt. 1?

Some of these questions are amazing. Even the joke questions.

Especially the joke questions.

Sixtease

I would like for him to comment on the infamous similarities of ADTOE with I&W. Who came up with the idea? Was there a discussion about it?

+1 to the question about him singing and also: Still no JR lyrics? Pretty please?

The Stray Seed

Would you please tell us your personal main source of inspiration in the writing of this album? It could be anything, even something non-music related.

farizfariz

May i contribute ?

  • Why don't you take the backing vocal role ? You have a good vocal voice *as we've seen on his YouTube channel*
  • Have you ever considering about doing an album or a live show with other famous keyboard player, such as Chick Corea and/or Don Airey ?
  • Any tips on growing beard and goatee like yours ?
  • Can i have one of your iPads ?
The last question was just a joke, sorry

hefdaddy42

What's your favorite color?  Do you like it so much that you feel disdain for other colors?  You know, like JM.
Quote from: BlobVanDam on December 11, 2014, 08:19:46 PMHef is right on all things. Except for when I disagree with him. In which case he's probably still right.

Leaving for Frankfurt now. Thanks for the questions. I'll post a link to the answers in a few days.
Thanks again.

Be sure to mention the Loudwire showdown against Metallica  :tup

Back from the Musik Messe. It was gret but HECTIC. Didn't have the chnce to talk more than five minutes with Jordan, so I'm gonna send him a selection of your questions for him to answer. To be continued....

Jordan - Y  U  USE INSTAGRAM LIKE 12 YR OLD GIRL ?

STAHP WITH THE EFFECTS.

Sycsa

Jordan, you seem to use Hammond organ sounds more and more often. Seeing that you're currently working with at least a dozen high quality synths while recording new album prompts the question: why don't you use a real Hammond organ and -more importantly- a Leslie speaker, at least in the studio? It would make a world of difference in sound quality.
