Hi everyone! It's my turn now so I'll be brief with this and just get on with it

50 - A Nightmare to Remember

Hopelessly drifting, bathing in beautiful agony - This song gives me some mixed feelings. On one side it has a lot of metal that for some parts is good and for some parts it feels a bit too forced. On the other side there are some beautiful melodies that are a joy to listen to. Overall it's a good song and it was a damn good opener for the tour.

49 - To Live Forever

Until I show a desire for revenge, my hunger will waste me to sleep - This song is just beautiful in every sense. The guitar work is a demonstration of what JP can offer when he's not focused on breaking his own speed record. I must also say that this is one of the few songs where I can really appreciate JLB.

48 - Afterlife

Some comfort lies, in knowing the truth never spoken - Poor WDADU. I get that the production sucks but it has some jewels like this one. Afterlife is a great demonstration of what Moore brought to DT. While JP, JM, and MP where bringing some cool riffs and putting some metal into the song, KM was there in the back providing some really nice atmospheres that bring the song to a different level. The song overall is very consistent and well rounded up.

Elite

NONE OF ALL OF THOSE WOULD EVER MAKE MY TOP 50.

:neverusethis:

I actually had Afterlife in mine, and at #48 too! Nice start, following.

Love the addition of Afterlife, definitely would make my list.

ANTR would make my top 50. The others wouldn't, but I like 'em anyway. Afterlife is definitely one of the better tracks off WDADU. The IaW era live performances of it slayed!

?

Good start, it's always great to see Afterlife and TLF on anyone's list! :tup

Onno

Great start, particularly nice to see TLF  :metal

47 - Hollow Years

The noise that you'll hear is the crashing down of hollow yearsAnother touching DT song and again some great guitar work from JP, this time demonstrating his skills with the acoustic guitar. What I like most about this song is how the chorus is able to bring an uplifting feeling into a rather gloomy song. I also would like to mention the great work done with the backing vocals here, probably one of the best in DT's entire history.

46 - Caught in a Web

Echoes that deafen the mind, will bury my voice in their wake - Another DT song that works on contrasts with some parts of the song leaning towards the heavy side while some other parts are more calm and atmospheric. The keyboards and the guitar work really good together finding a good balance for each of them.

45 - A Fortune in Lies

He said we both will be heroes and I was led into temptation - I find this song to be very interesting as it somewhat wants to be metal but never really gets there. However it also wants to be very prog and that it achieves. The instrumental section is peculiar since it seems that it's not going anywhere but then it gets a direction and manages to come back to the song quite elegantly

BlobVanDam

Nice choices. AFIL is one of the better songs on WDADU, although I still wouldn't rank it top 50. I love Hollow Years and Caught in a Web though, and I think they're both a bit underrated. :tup

Nekov

There'll be more WDADU, I love that album

Ugh, you're ranking them too high as it is, and I think those are the best ones from the album. :lol

wolfking

That's a great selection, love all three of those.

#17
Start over.  Only two of those are potentially top 50 songs, and ANTR is ranked too low.

:lokked:

EDIT:  Just kidding.  Well, I mean, just kidding about the locked part.  As far as your ranking being crap, no, I was dead serious about that.  Carry on.

Aythesryche

I was about to get mad on Nekovs behalf. ;)

Nekov

Some harsh judgement from the boss.... it will get better, or not

wolfking

Don't listen to him, the list is incredible already.

Nekov

Thanks Wolf  :D

44 - Pull me Under

Watch the sparrow falling gives new meaning to it all - This was one of the two songs that got me into DT. It has a good deal of intensity and metal and the guys really manage to show their skills without being all over the top about it. I never really got the ending of the song and even though now I know why it is like that it still feels to me that it could be better if the song just faded away or if they had properly ended after the phrase finished

43 - Another Day - Specially dedicated to Bosk  ;)

They took pictures of our dreams - One of the most unique DT songs mostly because they have a sax in it. The song is very beautiful and that external addition gives it a nice touch that adds to the mood. JLB has a stellar performance putting a lot of passion into his singing which is exactly what the song calls for and right after the most emotional part we get that marvelous JP solo.

42 - Anna Lee

You feel the rain move in as you begin to turn and answer the call - Such a touching song. Even though it is a sad song it manages to put a little smile on my face sometimes. The little Beatles touches it has here and there really bring the song up, specially during JP's solo. I also love how the song travels through some different moods and yet it manages to remain consistent all throughout.

Great songs! Good to see some Anna Lee appreciation, I've always felt that this song has caught unnecessary flak for some reason. :tup

Already love it because TLF :heart :heart :heart
You will love my top 50 then!

And PMU is looow  :o (it must be said that I love it much more than the average diehard DT fan)

Never cared about Anna Lee but Another Day= :heart and PMU= :metal

Not a big Anna Lee fan, but the other two are magic.

41 - Beneath the Surface

A shell of what things could have been - The odd one out in ADTOE and without a doubt a perfect ending to an album. The string arrangements provide a perfect atmosphere to JP's subtle guitar playing and JLB's smooth singing. The only thing that brings down the song is JR's Ipad solo because it breaks the mood inserting a very artificial sound into an otherwise perfectly natural sounding song.

40 - In The Presence of Enemies Pt. 1

Servants of the fallen, fight to pave the way - The intro is a little bit over the top but after that a great song arises, with some very interesting riffs and melodies. I have a hard time describing exactly what it is that I like about this song, it seems to me that overall it's very solid and it also provides some of that contrast I enjoy so much.

39 - Space-Dye Vest

Beauty projection in the reflection always the worst way to start - One of the very few DT songs that work solely on the atmospheric level. It's dark, depressing and slow paced yet it finds a way to remain interesting and catch the attention. I don't feel like the samples bring the song down like some people do because they are there to provide a break to all the gloom that while enjoyable can be a bit overwhelming

DebraKadabra

SDV is horribly overrated and wouldn't come close to making my Top 50 (should I ever make one in the future), but the other two are definitely worthy. :tup

I agree with Deb on SDV, and I'd apply the exact same words to BTS too. IMO the iPad solo is the only saving grace of the song that stops it from being a complete loss. I'd say those are DT's two worst ballads right there.

But ITPOE pt 1 is a nice choice. :tup
