Look at all us freaks cluttering your city streets
Still scalping their ticket-less applause
Spun monkeys on the railroad track, take me to the caine field; I walk along pick my spiderbite
Basically Kyoko Kirigiri

They don't "always" say it.

why do they often say it?

They don't "often" say i...ok, yeah they do.  Or more specifically MP does.  It just became a thing and they would slip it into songs when they were feeling crazy.

I've always loved Scenes from a World Tour. War Pigs, Canadian Raping, Wipe Out and just the random MP tidbits are hilarious.

Big distinction!

It started out as a thing that the whole band partook in. It then got stale, but MP kept going with it for years after.

It's also present in "In the Name if God" as a Morse code.

I read about that, but I never actually spotted it. It might be for the best, but still, what does it sound like? I mean, obviously, it's not tapping, I thought maybe there was beeping or something, but I could never hear anything like that.

It is tapping, or clicking or whatever. It's a little subtle though.

However, if you don't notice it, then at no point are you missing out on anything what so ever. Trust me.

Something that was mildly amusing the first 2 or 3 times it was done, but then rapidly lost any semblance of humor.

Also, it's ancient history, so I have no idea why it's coming up now.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but it came about to fill some lyrical gaps in the Fatal Tragedy chorus before the words were completed. It's mentioned on the LSFNY commentary a few times.

It comes in at 5:50 in the song, in the right speaker. It sounds like a closed triangle hit repeating in a syncopated rhythm. If you listen from a few seconds before that, you should notice it come in.

Rattlehead

It's still amusing to me but just because it's so stupid  :lol

I find it really ridiculous. The first time, "ha ha", the fourty-seventh time...not so much.

What's unfortunate is the morse code thing in In the Name of God is really neat, but the fact that that phrase is what they included is terrible.  I have several friends who are DT fans (who are fans, but don't pay attention to anything online or any of the drama surrounding the band) that I've never bothered telling them about it since it would be far too embarrassing to reveal what phrase the code spells out.

Especially concerning the subject matter of the song.

Totally. And now that we're on it, what's up with these instrumental sections that have nothing to do with the message of the song? Just weird.

They're... Awesome.

MP describing music as "balls and chunk" always made me giggle a little.

Opinion-shifts like this always happens.  When it first came out as a super-hidden nugget and took forever to discover almost everyone was like "Haha, that's so awesome".  Now, almost everyone is like "It's pretty dumb for XXX reason(s)".

For the record, I always thought it was dumb cuz of the EMA&B message and would have REALLY been awesome had it been something to do with they subject matter, but I was definitely in the minority in 2005.

The beauty of a hidden message of course is that it doesn't have to have anything to do with the song, because it's hidden. Hidden messages are usually pretty random.

Why do james and mike always say this?

Now that I think about it, I don't believe I've ever heard JLB say this at all. I've heard it a number of times from MP, but I don't recall JLB saying this in any behind the scenes or even on stage. I mean, maybe there are some bootlegs that I haven't heard of, but the point is, I can't even imagine JLB saying it.

Spacebar.

JP and MP did it in their first gig here in Sydney.

I love how JP points to a person in the crowd after it's done  :lol
