Wow, no one picks up on the links between JLMB and TTT?

Don't worry hef, I thought it was pretty obvious and well known.

Close your eyes you can find all you need in your mind
Just close your mind you can find all you need with your eyes
Wow. I can't believe I never saw that.

I did too.

I think there is a musical tease as well.  But I don't remember for sure because I don't like JLMB very much, so I hardly ever listen to it.
Isn't there a guitar riff that sounds like Wait For Sleep?

Ħ

Yeah, that is Wait For Sleep.

JLMB is a cool song. It's also an acronym that makes me think "James La-Myung-Brie"

yorost

Wow, Wait for Sleep, Learning to Live, Just Let Me Breathe, and Take the Time are all one song!  I never knew that!  What's it called?

Take the time to breathe while sleeping. It's a song about sleep apnea.

Is the similarity to WFS intentional?

Everything DT does is intentional.

Except when they sound like other bands, then it's just a coincidence.

I finally remembered to put the songs into one.  almost done now.
looking forward to enjoying it as intended

In any case, I do enjoy it in its entirety

hefdaddy42

Yeah, WFS/LTL.

Yeah, it was intentional.

Yeah, Adami accidentally the whole thing.

Listened to the AA suite today. It was awesome. ESPECIALLY Repentance. LOVE that song a lot. IN FACT I enjoyed it the most out of all the songs

The thing I like about Repentance in the grand scheme of the suite is that it gives the suite a much needed contrast. The first two songs are so heavy that by the time you get to TROAE, you're almost numb that that riff based metal aspect of the whole thing, and then Repentance comes in and gives you something a lot more melodic and it's refreshing.

Agreed. When The Root came in i was tired

^I don't disagree with that.  But still, as it is, it's still really cool.  It could have been a better overall pieace of music if it were more concise.  Yes, in retrospect, if TDS, Repentence, and TSF were more concise and focused, the whole thing could have been better.  But still, the concept and execution of this over 5 albums is still a really amazing feat.  Few bands have even attempting anything remotely like this.  I think we tend to lose sight of that when we choose to instead focus on nitpicking the specific things we may not like about the suite.
Agreed.

I know.

But if you take it literally then, then I only said that if you had a nickel, then you'd be poor.

Repentance is the only song in the saga that I really enjoy, but that's not to say that the other songs aren't good. Apart from TSF. That was pretty boring.

Samsara

No, I think the idea was cool, but it got stale and mid-way through, it became somewhat of an albatross for MP. On one hand, he probably loved the fact people wanted to follow it. On the other hand, sometimes you just don't want to write about the same thing any longer.

I'm grateful the band will likely not play it live in its entirety. The Glass Prison and The Root of All Evil are my favorite tunes in the suite.

Roads to Madness: The Touring History of Queensrÿche (1981-1997)

Later tonight or tomorrow, I'll begin my "Twelve-Step Suite Songs Survivor", pitting the 5 tracks against each other. Here's how the songs ranked last time through 4 rounds of votes:
1. "The Glass Prison"
2. "The Root Of All Evil"
3. "The Shattered Fortress"
4. "This Dying Soul"
5. "Repentance"

I'm ten minutes in, and... when he says "new mix," I take it he's just combined the songs in an interesting way? Because except the two minutes before any music happened, I haven't yet heard anything particularly striking. I am listening on slightly crap headphones, mind, but I was expecting some kind of far-out electronica remake from the hype and the title!

I'm sure it's going to be incredibly cool, and I can't wait to hear how all the parts are mixed together if that's what's happening, but... man, that intro! Who picks up the Twelve-Step Suite, mixes ít together, and goes, "You know what this needs? More bloat."

ETA: Right! Puppies on Acid! I was not expecting this. Not sure how smooth the transition is, but that might just be because I know the songs so well. What's Mike murmuring in the background?

ETA2: Arrrrg! PoA finished. And dear me. I see what he's doing here, but... you know that thing I said about bloat?

I like the suite in its entirety, but I didn't like that.
