Good setlist.  I'd probably take out Beyond this Life though.
Fully agreed but everything else there is great.

I kinda wish they would shelve BTL for awhile. If they're going the SFAM route Fatal Tragedy or Home would be good to bring out, IMO.

lutima

They've played BTL a total of 11 times since the SFAM tour. It's never been a regular in the set since the tour for that album, and there's not even an indication that's the case now. So it's been "shelved" enough. Home however has been played literally 100 times or so since the SFAM tour, played to death between the SDOIT, Octavarium and SC tour. Just because you don't like BTL doesn't mean it's been played to death.

edit: I meant 11 times since the ToT tour, not the SFAM tour. Home has been played at least 60-70 times in that same time.

Nihil-Morari

Thank yoyu Blob.

But I guess you've miscounted, I can think of more than 11 occasions it has been played in the ToT tour alone.
Did you count 'Beyond This Life' only? Or did you cound the 'Beyond This Life (With Zappa Jam)' too?

Count again, Blob.

Oops, I counted right, but I meant since the ToT tour, not the SFAM tour. So it's only been 11 times on the last 2 tours, whereas Home on the same two tours has been significantly more. So it's been played a lot more recently either way.

cyberdrummer

Also, Home and Fatal Tragedy have been played in Europe more recently than BtL. We didn't get that at all last tour like the US and Australia did. I really hope they play it on Saturday.

BlobVanDam

I'm glad we got Overture > Fatal Tragedy here in Australia. Was a good chunk of the album to get to make up for previous tours. I'd enjoy seeing BTL this tour if/when they come back though. I doubt they'd repeat any songs from last time though, so chances are good we might. I think most of the Asian and Australian shows got that same section of SFAM.

Calm down.

I was just joking. These guys know how much I love that song.

skydivingninja

Erotomania & Voices combo again is excellent.  Interesting that this might mean they'll bring back Caught in a Web, Hollow Years and Solitary Shell, all of which I don't think I have too much of a problem seeing live.  I'd be perfectly fine seeing them open with ITPOE pt. 1.  Great setlist even if there was no Glass Prison.

BlobVanDam

Since they didn't play Repentance live last tour (with the one exception), I wouldn't expect any of the AA saga unless they're going to play it as a whole, which I also don't expect often. Maybe they'll play them all leading up to playing them for a DVD though. I'm just basing this on what they did for the leadup to SCORE when they played sections of SDOIT ready to play it whole.

SeRoX

As much as I heard a little scene from the song VOICES at youtube, James sounds amazing.  :metal

BlobVanDam

I thought the same thing. Shame the clip was only the soft low part. I'd love to hear how he's doing on the higher bits.

Seeing that they are on tour again I really really want to go but tickets for Chicago are really expensive

OsMosis2259

thats a cool setlist, im surprised there is nothing from Train of Thought tho. I was expecting like As I Am or something

OsMosis2259

someone was blowing a whistle or something during the 30 second clip of voices and it seriouslly killed my ear...

james sounded great tho and im looking forward to see some more footage from the shows comin up

ZBomber

James sounds pretty good on Metropolis! I can't wait for the tour to start now!

cramx3

Kind of surprised they played a lot of songs  that were played on the last leg of last year's tour.  I can only assume its going to be changed up big time when the album is released and they come back to the states.

Overall, I'd say that its still a pretty awesome setlist.  Just not one I'd want to see since they played a lot of those songs last year in NYC.

AcidLameLTE

Although I think Erotomania is a great song, I just can't imagine it being that fun to watch live.

Awesome set list over all though.

You have to remember that most of these songs weren't played at all in Europe on the last tour. I'm sure the setlist will change for the US.

skydivingninja

I would love to hear Hollow Years w/ improv on ProgNation.  I don't care if they already did it on the ToT tour.
