OH MY GOD
The smile just wouldn't go off my face!

CodyWanKenobi

I wonder what MP thinks of the trailer? Cause it looks like a bad ass fucking concert.

I love the way the lights reflect on MM's kit.

I'm all giddy like a school girl.

AH!
My latest concept album "IV: Timber" IS OUT NOW!

Over the Edge Productions answered at my question about the audio:

Thanks guys!! Yes, this is the album audio bc when we cut the trailer, the final mix on the audio wasn't done yet but we've since gotten the audio and it sounds INCREDIBLE!!

So then I'm guessing the tracklist will look something like:

Bridges In The Sky
These Walls
6:00
Build Me Up, Break Me Down
The Dark Eternal Night
This Is The Life
Caught In A Web
The Root Of All Evil
Lost Not Forgotten
Drum Solo
A Fortune In Lies
The Silent Man
Beneath The Surface
Wait For Sleep
Far From Heaven
Outcry
Surrounded
On The Backs Of Angels
War Inside My Head
The Test That Stumped Them All
The Spirit Carries On
Breaking All Illusions

Pull Me Under
Metropolis

That is both nights without repeats.....hope it looks something like that

cyberdrummer

That's one hell of a tracklist. Please let it be the case.

JayOctavarium

I haven't been this excited since... well... seeing DT on the first leg of the tour!!

Onno

Well, I hope it comes out in early May. I'm heading off to 6 weeks fieldwork in Spain for my study around the 13th, so I'd really love being able to watch the DVD before that as I probably won't have a tv or a computer there...

Scorpion

I hope they don't cut the Psycho theme. I really enjoyed it as an opener, but then again they might run into legal problems with that...

Chino

I'm experiencing a slight case of déjà vu.

Inception you mean?  ::)

Kotowboy

Oooh. I forgot about Dream Is Collapsing. Hope that's on there.

It would be no less than epic!

DVD and new album in the same year? I feel spoiled!

ronrule

Is that a prog DVD preview or a teaser for the upcoming season of Project Runway?

"it all comes down to this" (cymbal flourish)

"find out what happens when the bass player can't find his Starbucks" (record scratch. quick cuts to concerned looks on other members faces)

It's a promotional teaser. It's meant to promote the DVD and stir the wish to buy a product in the target audience. And they got it exceptionally right, judging on the reactions. Did you expect anything different?

Given OTE's aesthetic choices on the "documentary", not really. Though a fan can hope.

wasteland

Well, now let me rephrase my question: what were you hoping for? :)

Is it just me or does it look way too bright and colourful like they're playing with the house lights on?

It looks like X Factor :/

Sounds like we're already complaining before it's out. I'm sure the band loves to hear stuff like that. The next guy will say his porridge is too cold.

Oh shit - you're right. I Can Barely See The Stage

ronrule

I was hoping for something that lacked the reality tv aesthetics, for example:

cornball voice over
cymbal flourishes
manufactured drama e.g. "it all comes down this"
people crying (everybody knows there are no girls at DT shows. I want more HD video of us overweight IT guys with our goatees!)

I just hope on the full DVD somebody says "hey, I'm not here to make friends".

Fiery Winds

I think most of that stuff was generated for the trailer.  I highly doubt any of that will be on the performance disk.  The documentary?  Probably similar to the drummer doc.

it wouldn't be DTF without people complaining about something the second it's released

That would be great. I certainly hope so.

Yeah, I had the same complaints about the drummer doc. It made reality-tv-style editing, music, and structure choices. I think it was mentioned they tried to pitch it to VH1 at the time? It shows. Just annoying to me that's all. I still love the "raw materials" = seeing DT in their element and I'm excited for that aspect.

Kotowboy

I'm not complaining - i'm just *observing* that it looks unusually bright and colourful for a Live DVD.

:)

MoraWintersoul

Um guys you know how I get overexcited over basically everything? I just can't describe how excited I am over this. ALL OF MY YES. I'm afraid I am going to accidentally break the DVD when I get to hold it. Like that much. Sweet Jesus.

Kotowboy

Yeah I don't even have a BR player but i'm gonna get the BluRay just so I can watch it at my Bro's house :)

Maybe if a bunch of said, "hey we're excited for this concert DVD and while the performance looks incredible, we're concerned that the presentation, like aspects of the drummer tryouts video, look more like reality TV than serious prog concert and intelligent documentary filmaking" that could even effect the outcome?

Ah, I forgot about the VH1 bit.  That probably influenced the editing a bit more.  Plus, when you have a "competition" it makes sense for there to be some drama.  If this is straight backstage, behind the scenes, and sight-seeing, I doubt it'll be as dramatic as the drummer doc.
