Now if they could actually say something about when's it coming out and what's gonna be on it exactly at this stage, it would be more interesting.

DarkLord_Lalinc

lol be patient, they recorded this 4 days ago. Let them take as much time as they need to guarantee a nice product.

MoraWintersoul

I know, I was just complaining at the fact they're mostly interviewed around the time when they can't say anything interesting.

YES THANK YOU. Always a gloom cookie.

Damn interviewers! :mora:

edit: I just have to say you made my day. I was almost-sobbing* over the fact I've been depressed again this past month or so, and that I can't do anything but sit glued in front of a screen for twelve hours per day, hiss at anyone who's trying to talk to me in "real life" and ruin my social life. And then I come to this.

I may be a useless fucker but my username is an emote on a forum that's made me laugh and feel better more times than I can possibly count. I have that today.

*that's the thing when you want to cry but tears won't come. Fuck. Sorry about this post, I'm a hot mess.

I have a small gripe, or whatever you'd want to call it, about the DVD. This is the third time we're getting War Inside My Head / The Test that Stumped them All, not to mention that not one of these times was in the lower-quality Chaos in Motion DVD. Both Budokan and Score had amazing editions of these songs.

I can understand TSCO, Metro Pt. 1, even Pull Me Under. But these songs are just great, I can't believe they're considered a classic by the band's standards. The Glass Prison, Blind Faith, Misunderstood and The Great Debate all deserve a release through a DVD.
Gigantour & World Turbulence (TGP), CIM (Blind Faith), fanclub 2008 release (Misunderstood) and Score's extra material (TGD) are all fun, but they're not exactly a well-recorded live show in relation to Score or Budokan.

Still, I'm gonna enjoy these songs in the upcoming DVD like hell so it's just a random thought.

This. Blind Faith on CiM is so disappointing.

Do we know whether all the songs are being included on the DVD? I can't for the life of me fathom why they would include some of them.

Whuh?

a. Because the band and the crowd like them enough to play them every night (or every other night) of a year-long tour.
b. Because they're running under, rather than over - each night's a two-hour gig, but there's well over an hour's worth of material in common between the two. To rival Score or Live at Budokan for running length, to emulate a full-length Evening With, they'll be adding, not subtracting.
c. Because they've presumably got some great footage of them that they've paid to produce at the gig they've chosen to share with the world.

Not saying you're wrong, but... I can't fathom why they wouldn't.

The only thing I would add is:  TOX, you're wrong.

I think that there are three parties when it comes to live albums:

1. Super anal people who want every live album to be super unique, and therefore not have the same songs appearing over and over again across albums.

2. Normal people who just want to hear songs they like, regardless of how many times they appear across albums.

3. People who just want to hear the classics, and could care less about rare gems (although this group probably doesn't exist for a band like Dream Theater).

I guess I fall into the first category. I don't mean to be selfish when I say that I wish they wouldn't include some of the songs, but to me, having so many songs that I've already seen on other DVDs will diminish the character of the set a lot. I sincerely do not want to see "The Spirit Carries On" for the third time. :lol

Superstoked for this DVD. Haven't been this excited for a DVD since Live At Budokan. (Score too but since I attended the TOT tour, that DVD was more special)
Devour Feculence!

Thinking about the DVD release date, I've realized something. Whean asked for the next DT album the band is saying that they'll enter the studio "next year", "january", "february" or even "march", IIRC. I think it is because of the DVD. I suppose they want it to be released before they enter the studio, so these two dates are very related, in fact. What do you think?

They did the same break thing after they hired Mangini, with almost the same exact time frame. Not to mention JP, JR, and JLB have some solo albums that are supposed to be recorded soon. If you ask me, the break is purely to take time off of Dream Theater, which they have been doing for almost a year non-stop, to work on other things for a few months. I think a normal DVD preparation and release schedule happens to coincide with a January (or earlier) release, which is the only month I've heard about when they will be starting to write/record the 12th album. And in addition to that, the DVD release date is pure speculation at this point. So, honestly, I think the two things are unrelated.

I know they'll be working on his solo stuff, and resting after the long A Dramatic Tour of Events, I was pointing out that maybe the exact date they're entering the studio could be related with the DVD release. For example, in this interview Jordan says "january or february":

QuoteHave you written material for the new album?
Well, we've been recording some ideas during the tour. We're not used to writing on the road, but sometimes we come up with some interesting riffs and other cool stuff during sound checks, so we record to check it out later.

QuoteWe just wrapped up a week in South America producing Dream Theater's new concert DVD.  The shoots included two live concert recordings at Luna Park in Buenos Aires, Argentina and documentary footage in both Colombia and Argentina for the special features.  Dream Theater put on an incredible show both nights for the sold-out stadium.  Mike Leonard produced and directed the show under his company, Over the Edge Productions.  A special thanks to the OTE crew that came down with us: Chris Paul, Kelly Cook, Alan Clary, Godfrey Tabarez, Jordan Bross and Jackie Zampella.  Today marks the start of postproduction for the new concert DVD which will be released on BluRay and contain plenty of bonus features.

You.

You know, for all JP's dedication to working out, he's not ripped AT ALL. No vascularity, not much muscle definition. I guess sheer mass is his only goal. Probably needs to change his diet. (in b4 "all salmon dude" yuk yuk)

Who would you rather come face to face with in a back ally some where... JP or this guy?
