Again, they have to point out that the band asked fans to vote on their website.

BlobVanDam

DT's fanbase proving yet again they can swamp any poll. :lol :metal Great choice of album too. :tup :tup

Yep, Rolling Stone continues to show how they despise DT.

Also, LOL @ DT voting in several albums and then Rolling Stone takes them all out except for one.

TheGreatPretender

Wooo! Scenes From A Memory rules!!!

jcmoorehead

So they're moaning because a band which is known to be active in social media... asked their fans to vote for them in a public online poll, what a terrible crime against humanity that genuinely is how dare someone being considered in a public poll ask the public to vote for them.

theseoafs

:lol  They said Moving Pictures had 11 tracks.

God forbid a band has dedicated fans. Also, who still reads Rolling Stone?

RS has Bieber on the cover. Can they be taken seriously?

BlobVanDam

I don't know what they could complain about.
Any of the other bands could have theoretically done the same thing (even though they may not have as active online fanbases to reach out to so easily). DT may have mentioned it on their site (which nobody reads anyway), but iirc they only mentioned it once on FB, and they didn't even suggest any specific album to vote for that I recall, so they weren't really spamming it or anything. This is actually how the internet works.

And I'd say DT should have been in the list anyway, even if they didn't deserve top spot.

JayOctavarium

rolling stone? hahahahaahahahahhaahaa

Ruba

I disagree. SFAM is not the best DT album. I would be very happy with Images & Words, and it's more rock than SFAM. Awake is not that much fan favourite that it could be topping a poll.

I just bought 2112 today, wow, is it that good? I haven't seriously never listened to any Rush.

Yes.

I expect it to be good.

I have heard a little Rush (just little bits from some songs), and I think Geddy Lee is actually quite good vocalist, so that doesn't bother me.

Almost all of those made my top 50  Congrats to Rush for getting 3 out of the 10. Very impressive.

There are a load of old fossils very upset that DT won judging by some of the comments. Obviously an album has to be 50 years old before it is any good.  :\

Yep.  Rush is a Band and a few other Rush blogs posted the link but no one at RS got their panties in a wad over that :P

I can understand why they'd lump all the albums in one entry though, because otherwise DT would take up half the list and it wouldn't be interesting.  Oh wait, the list had six bands total anyways.  Okay.

My thought when I saw that status was the same when the Rush blogs posted it: So many fans are going to be voting for so many albums MAYBE one will make it.  Turns out Rush had 3 make the final ten and Dream Theater would have had five.  :lol  Surprised it got that turnout for just posting it once.

What is ironic about DT possibly having 5 of the top 10 is that over on the Portnoy forum certain posters are intimating that DT arent as popular as they were since MP has left!

I agree with what you said in the comments SDN

About this - can someone tell me where RS is apparently annoyed about DT posting the link?  On the SFAM write-up, they explicity say it is a totally kosher move...

RS has always had some sort of grudge against DT for some reason. It happened in another poll several months ago as well. They just straight-up insulted them in both articles.

wasteland

Wow, the statement quoted in the roadrunner page is utterly pathetic and unprofessional. Shame on the author.

rumborak

Without SFAM the list is otherwise actually pretty good.

Rolling Stone respects Rush today just because Rush somewhat is being considered cool. If that pool was made 15 years ago ( or even less), Rush would be treated  like Dt today (very disrespectfully )

Ben_Jamin

Good for them. Also, lol at the "hottest photos of 2012"

chrisbDTM

so king crimson gets multiple spots but DT cant? k

"If we had kept in all the Dream Theater albums, Images and Words would be number two, and Awake, Octavarium and Six Degrees of Inner Turbulence would also be listed here."

Amazing.
