Damn skippy!

Implode

I really can't help but try to sing along to whatever James is singing, and also badly air drumming/keyboarding/guitaring/whatevering to whatever is going on with the rest of the band. It's just how I enjoy the music.

Cyclopssss

The crowd singing along at the end of ACOS into Learning to Live on 5YIALT gives me goosebumps every time.  :metal

Yes, when there are actual lyrics happening, singing along is only natural. But singing along with guitar melodies has always bugged the crap out of me.

I do that a lot of the times when I'm listening to music on my own. Always have. :lol

Not for concerts at least. Yeah, as far as I can tell, it's mostly a language thing. When people can't sing along with the words because they can't speak English. That'd be my guess, anyway. But yeah, it's annoying. It always reminds me of Zombie Nation by Kernkraft, except in that case, it works well.

Language doesn't have anything to do with it. I can tell you people here sing along the lyrics and when there are no lyrics we sing along the riffs too. It's a matter of fun.

TheGreatPretender

Well, all I'm saying is it annoys me. It kinda reminds me of like, fans cheering "Ole Ole" at soccer games. Which is fine, for soccer. But I really don't want to associate DT with soccer.

We also sing Ole Ole at concerts

TheGreatPretender

Gah! You guys are annoying! Stop it!

Implode

I think it's annoying how many of my generation's idea of enjoying a concert is getting punched in the face.

mocool13

Singing along to melodies as well as the lyrics is the way to do it. Seeing DT in Israel was amazing for that reason, made the show more enjoyable than when I've seen DT in the U.S.

I would be willing to pay to get punched in the face by John Myung. It would enjoy and cheerish such a unique moment for all my life!

Nekov

You need to loosen up TGP, let people have fun in concerts, that's the whole idea of going to one.

Cool Chris

I don't mind the occasional shots of a raucous audience, and even getting their 'ole, ole' or singing along with the riffs mixed in. But I don't want it continuously shown/heard throughout a concert. Always makes me think of Cheap Trick's Budokan concert. Goddam the mix on that is beyond annoying.

I don't think it is about having fun at a show. If I am there I will be as raucous as the guy next to me. It is about what is and isn't captured for a live DVD/CD release.
Maybe the grass is greener on the other side because you're not over there fucking it up.

Nekov

I know, but look at Eddie Vedders face in this video. The guy is really enjoying it.

Hey, I'm not trying to start a revolution here. I'm just saying it annoys me. I'm allowed to be annoyed by stuff, and sometimes I can't help it. Sorry.

Nekov

You're right on that. We're cool  :)

Or pushed around by pitmonkeys who couldn't care less about pit etiquette and are just out there to hurt as many peeps as possible.
Look at all us freaks cluttering your city streets
Still scalping their ticket-less applause
Spun monkeys on the railroad track, take me to the caine field; I walk along pick my spiderbite
Basically Kyoko Kirigiri

Nekov

No one said anything about mosh pits. I'm not into those to be honest.

DebraKadabra

I'm not into them either, and I thought it was a natural leap to go from people thinking it's cool to punch other people in the face to moshpits.

My bad if it wasn't, though. :lol

:lol You got it all wrong. He wasn't saying he likes being punched in the face at concerts. He was just saying that TGP was saying all the things he likes about concerts are annoying with a metaphor

Don't even get me started on mosh pits and hardcore douchebagging... err... I mean dancing.

DebraKadabra

I've had more than my fair share of bad experiences with pitmonkeys - even at acoustic shows. :tdwn

On the way back from the DT concert, there was a guy on the train asking us about it. He was like, "How can you not mosh at a concert?"

???

Nekov

I'm all in for jumping and stuff but moshing is something very unnecessary

Good point, though! I mean, every time I hear Wait For Sleep, all I wanna do is mosh.  ::)

The interesting thing is that it was that the old stuff was never brought up. From what I understood is that the boots were taken from this past couple of year's touring with Mangini on board.

That is true. The "old stuff" is in the hands of the real master, Mike Portnoy! Unless he returns, we'll never see or hear it!

There's a ton of old stuff released already, though. No biggie.
Besides, I'm sure that if they REALLY wanted to release something old, then Portnoy wouldn't be such a jerk as not to give them the recordings if they asked for them.

Well, It's income for both Portnoy & DT so it makes sense that they could come to some sort of agreement for future "Vintage" releases?...

Would love to have the Fan Club show as an official release (and the full once in a livetime show as well)

DarkLord_Lalinc

MP should have done something like that before. Handing over his responsabilities would have probably helped him to be more rested and whatnot.
