Maybe but the timing just seesm bizarre since, even when considering his soft spot for modern marginal metal, Wes Borland (or any member of LB) seems to be someone he'd have never found much interest in listening to or associating with.

Considering how social MP is in musician circles, I wouldn't be surprised if the two of them had already crossed paths in the past, but aside from the general/generic pleasantries, didn't say much. After the Borland tweet thing, then there was something to talk about and thought the moment was perfect for having a little fun. It's not unlike the time MP "choked" a fan (High Speed Kurt) who for years had been whining about DT not playing New Orleans and got to meet MP after a show (I believe in Atlanta) - HSK's whining was well known on MP's website and even MP knew about it, so they used it as the perfect time to have some fun in a photo.

I really can't imagine how MP can socialize with the guy after all the shit he said about DT. Okay, so MP quit, but DT was still his baby and he still played with them for 25 years, so it's not like, Borland's statement, "DT isn't real music" only applies to the current state of the band.

Yeah, he said he was joking. Not sure I really believe him, but if he was joking, and was talking about it in person with MP, the light hearted nature of it would probably be more obvious and sincere.
