QuoteWhat is your top favorite 3 PROG albums besides Dream Theater's? :)

I don't want to read too much into this, but is it possible they're sounding out ideas for a classic album to cover at the double header at the Paramount? Might be wishful thinking, but I was pretty excited about the possibility.  :lol

Anyway, my three were DSOTM, Permanent Waves, and Remedy Lane.

Wasn't that option already ruled out by James in a previous interview? Things might have changed since then... Anyway, since it's almost certain that they will be filming one or both Huntington shows I don't really see them "wasting" DVD time on an album that is not theirs.

FlyingBIZKIT

The Dark Side Of The Moon is probably my favorite prog album, besides DT.

Though, they've already done it  :P

The Letter M

Yes' Relayer
Genesis' Wind & Wuthering
Rush's Permanent Waves (with Power Windows tied closely)

Those would be my top picks, if DT ever were to play a whole classic prog album in its entirety ever again.

-Marc.

Kosmo

Haken - Aquarius
King Crimson - In the Court of the Crimson King
Porcupine Tree - Deadwing

SeRoX

I really doubt DT would do cover in its entirety.

Haken - Aquarius
King Crimson - In the Court of the Crimson King

Dream Theater covering "Aquarius" by Haken would be great.

I still wonder why they took Periphery along their last EU tour when Haken would suit them much better.

Phoenix87x

1. Rush- 2112
2. Pink Floyd- Dark side of the moon
3. Marillion- Misplaced Childhood

* number 1 would have been Kid A, but I'm not sure if Radiohead counts formally as prog.

rumborak

Frost* - Milliontown

is one heck of a prog album too.

BlobVanDam

I don't think much was meant by that tweet, probably just the usual fan interaction. Once you exclude DT, I don't like anything that even resembles prog, so I'd abstain from that question. :lol

Zydar

#10
Dark Side Of The Moon
Selling England By The Pound
A Farewell To Kings Moving Pictures (didn't label MP as prog first but I changed my mind)

RoeDent

In the Court of the Crimson King
Animals
Fear of a Blank Planet

Fluffy Lothario

Close to the Edge
Blackwater Park
Lateralus
Frances the Mute

Not sure which I'd take out.

Uuuuh, this one covered by DT, what a wonderful experience it would be!!  :hefdaddy

Or they could play LTE 2 in its entirety..

champbassist

Beat - King Crimson
DSOTM - Pink Floyd
Moving Pictures - Rush

If one considers Isis prog, I'd say I like In The Absence Of Truth  more than Moving Pictures. Obviously that's just my ears' opinion.

JayOctavarium

The Wall
Deadwing
Animals

So hard to pick!

Tomislav95

Rush - Moving pictures
Genesis - Selling England by the Pound
Opeth - Damnation (not Opeth's favorite but it contain no growls)

I would like to see them performing JLB's Static Impulse but it's not prog.

Mladen

Pink Floyd - Animals
Yes - Close to the edge
Rush - Permanent waves

Sketchy

My list of favourite albums shifts around pretty much on a weekly basis, depending on my mood, but Dark Side Of The Moon is always at top spot. At the moment, though, the other two are Seeds On The Ground - Cold Fairyland and Signify - Porcupine Tree, although last week, it would have been more on the Ghost Reveries and In Absentia line of things.

Kotowboy

i'd love them to cover an album just for Marlene to go

" OH EM GEE -Y U DO THIS 2 MIKE ? HAZNT HE SUFFAD ENUFFZ ? "

Both on Roadrunner Records. But I agree.

DarkLord_Lalinc

I don't want any covers in DT's show. I want DT playing DT tunes. The cover thing was cool and everything during its time, but it's been enough of that. Petrucci himself stated that, during these concerts, they'd try to focus only on DT material (because they're reinforcing the image of what DT is).

TheGreatPretender

I'd love to see DT cover a Rush album (2112?), and they should do it in Toronto, since Rush is from Canada anway. And that way I could go see them perform it!

Kotowboy

It would not look very good to the anti-DT squad and MP fanboys that " the leader " as they see it leaves the band and

DT resort to playing covers to ( as they will see it ) make up for his lack of leadership and vision - or trying to replicate a scenario and

timeframe when MP was still in the band.

They need to concentrate on playing all their own material to make sure the MP fanboys and anti-DT squad have no ammunition. - albeit baseless.

That is the most convoluted theory I have ever heard.

Kotowboy

Blabbermouth and YouTube comments disagree with you.

BlobVanDam

Oh Blabbermouth doesn't count. :lol

Kotowboy

Most of them can't really read or write either...

BlobVanDam

I wonder what the overlap is with people who comment on Youtube?......
