Well it's not like Foo Fighters was a shit decision..  :-\
:lol What I meant to say, was that they made shittier decisions compared to this one. This one was just a very debatable/bad decision IMO, but not that full of shit like some awards they've given before.

I love how most of those don't bother me, since I hate rap in general  :lol  But I get what you're saying now.

Ben_Jamin

I wonder if JP got to chat with Adele, since he listed her album as his top ten.

Come on guys, it's not like the Grammys haven't made shit decisions before.
Do you really believe that these "fails" are indeed "fails"? Most of these failures amount to "they gave the award to the wrong guy". Numbers 14 and 16 talk about how lame it was that Herbie Hancock and Steely Dan beat the likes of Kanye West and Eminem.

EDIT: And the 9th biggest "fail"? Ray Charles beat Usher and Kanye West.

OFF topic off course look at 27:39 of this video

Wow, that was awkward. Not only for Portnoy, but also for some other people in the room, there were a couple of eyes directed towards Mike. Seems to me like the band name wasn't even read out loud because of the possibility of Mike feeling uncomfortable, I guess a few of them didn't even clap because of that.

Yeah, a complete BS nomination like that would have raised my eyebrows too. :lol

Yeah, no doubt.  What did they come back from?  :lol

^ Portnoy was being trapped in the count's cellar for months. So they hired Mangini.

SC and BC&SL
BC&SL wasn't nearly as bad as some say it is, and it was also one of their higher chartings so it's not like went in the shitter with that album..

darkshade

I agree. BC&SL was a good album, better and more consistent that SC or Octavarium. They came back from a turbulent line-up change.

Millais

why oh why does Slipknot get the bigger round of applause
and agreed, contrary to popular opinion I really enjoyed BC&Sl. better than SC (which I didn't think was too bad either). ADTOE was much more superior to both of those albums, however.

I'm glad I read this thread before watching. Those situations make me feel uncomfortable even when they have nothing to do with me. I mean I'd consider it a comeback from Mike leaving more than from the last 2 albums. MP leaving was huge to overcome and they did it with flying colors (could've used different phrasing here). I'm not sure what exactly this award is referring to though.

Agreed. BC&SL was certainly better than both SC and OV, but it still lacked that little extra something that makes DT so awesome.  It's that little extra something that you hear on the albums from '92-'02.  And it is there on ADTOE.  Some may disagree, and that's fine, but it's how I see it. :coolio

I don't get why Portnoy is there to begin with?

+1 I think that he's losing time with all of those Posers

he is better than that

7StringedBeast

Hmm Alice Cooper.. poser?  Zakk Wylde.. poser?

KevShmev

Don't know if poser is the right word, but that is one ugly lineup of musicians. :lol

And Zakk Wylde is more of an asshole than a poser.

Sir GuitarCozmo

Zakk Wylde opened for my Kiss tribute band once.  He was incredibly nice.

Sir GuitarCozmo

I'm not saying he is always a nice guy, just saying he was when I met him.

Real nice guy.

The interviewer was a stupid prick lacking basic survival skills since he knowingly asked a question that had the potential to cause confrontation after already making this determination before the interview even began:

QuoteRight off the bat I could tell that he was a little agitated for whatever reason.

For the record, I don't like Zakk at all either and find his music to be every bit as dull, lacking creativity, and uninspired as AC/DC but in this case they both were twats but the interviewer was a much bigger twat.

Sir GuitarCozmo

What I was thinking, but didn't say.

Regardless of the reasoning, I like the picture.
