Zook, I've been trying to spend less time criticizing music I don't like, at least not in more than a passing comment.  But since you're practically begging me to elaborate, I'll will.  Instrumentally, I think that the combination of neo-classical music with power metal simply does not work.  It's not that they do it badly; the combination itself is bad.  It sounds "dance-y" and I just don't like the sound of it.  Don't know how to express how I feel other than that.

Lyrically, the motif is mythology, and that's a problem for me.  I just can't help but laugh at the thought of five forty-year-old men getting off on playing music about Poseidon.  I don't actually think they aren't talented.  For example, Paradise Lost is good, but that's because the actual music style was rooted more in metal and memorable riffs, and the lyrics, although based on fiction, were about topics I could easily relate to.

So when we reach a certain age, we have to suddenly stop liking fantasy relating stuff? Well fuck, someone call Christopher Lee and tell him he's too old for that Lord Of The Rings kiddie shit.

It's a preference.  I'm not saying it's wrong to like SX or their lyrics.  Everyone likes what they like.

My vote goes for old James Labrie. He was amazing (and still is) and i prefer his tone.
But i have to say that Mr. Allen is an incredible singer, although his "soft" voice gets less and less space in new SX songs, and i dont like his constant use of the kinda angry voice.

Really? I would think that if you wanted to show someone a flaw in a band's music is to do so in reference to their better songs.  No one goes around saying Dream Theater is bad by using "You Not Me" and "Burning My Soul" as evidence.  If I had posted a link to "The Witching Hour" to show that SX's  music is laughable, it would have been dishonest.
Yeah I have no problem with people not liking stuff and you're right that if you want to explain why you don't like it (not "prove" that it's bad, since that isn't going to be done) you're better off doing it with stuff people usually think is the best so that you don't get "But that's not their best stuff, listen to this!", or not to do it based on one unrepresentatively bad or different song. I was just saying how weird / ridiculous it appears to me (because of what I like) to see someone say essentially "This is terrible - look!" then just post something which I consider great. It's like "TV is full of so much shit these days, look - The Wire." Makes sense to them I'm sure, but when percieved by me it just doesn't compute.
