Dude, your avatar and opinion are both awesome.  :tup

Welcome to teh forumz!

SeRoX

The Best Of Times is a huge disappointment considering its reason to be made. Aside from that, it includes a sweet solo by Petrucci.

Elite

I think the solo is too over-the-top and the rest of the song isn't that brilliant either.
Meh.

35. Erotomania

Beautiful, beautiful song, and one of their best instrumentals! It's all over the place, but it flows a bit better than The Dance of Eternity. This instrumental is miles better anyway. The solos, the keys, the drumming, everything make this song truly special. It has an awesome name too.

PROGdrummer

Erotomania!  :metal
really awesome song. when i first heard it I became obsessed with it and played it until it got old  :lol
I love the organ intro. very proggy

I don't even know what to say to that.  :tdwn

The next two picks won't necessarily make everyone happy. Any ideas?

Jaffa

I have guesses, but I think you gave me spoilers already, so I'll shush.

Im guessing that since your next picks wont make everyone happy, one of them will be Raw Dog?

New Millennium and The Ones Who Helped To Set The Sun?

Erotomania!! My least favourite part of the AMBI, but I still dig it a lot.   :metal

34. Metropolis, Pt. 1: The Miracle and the Sleeper

Yeah yeah, wtf is it not in my top 15 for? So what. I love this song, but it's never struck me as one of their "best best". However, I will say it's one song that is amazing for showing a n00b, because this song really involves all the members at full gear. Many, many memorable moments in this song. The most memorable for me is that unison. It's also fun to watch live when they pause for a good 30 seconds. This song is epic.

33. Home

It took me FOREVER to get into this song, and it was actually my least favorite on SFAM for the longest time, excluding the short tracks (except Regression). After a while though, I realized how great it was, and it's getting better and better. WOMP WOMP (seriously, what review of Home doesn't have WOMP WOMP?). My favorite part of this song is the line "I never thought that I could carry on with this life..." and so on. It's fucking badass, and I find myself brain banging every time. The outro is killer, because it's like the intro on steroids. Fuck.

FUCK! I need my umbrella. the storm of shits is arriving.

You fail. Miserably. There is no punishment great enough for this injustice.

Mine didn't.  =D

Anyway.  Both of these songs are much higher on my own list, but that's fine.  To each their own!  Should be interesting to read your top picks now that you've already knocked out Metropolis.

FlyingBIZKIT

Of course yours didn't  :lol

I'm just waiting to see what TGP has to say..

You're right.... both of these songs need to be much higher. You idiot.
I'm kidding, I'm kidding. The cool thing about this thread is that we get to see just how varied each Dream Theater fan's musical tastes are. Some of love the heavy songs, some dont. Some of us love the lenghty 12+ minute tracks, while some of us prefer shorter, less technical songs. Some of us can't stand the "wankery" of DT solo sections, some of us love it!
Since Metropolis and Home are so, so absurdly low on you're list.... my curiosity as to which songs made your top ten grows even more.

TheGreatPretender

Okay, so Metropolis MIGHT be interchangable with A Change Of Seasons, Learning To Live... That's 2. The rest of your list better look like this:

You know what's awesome?  The last two lists have both had Metropolis at #1, and Bizkit puts it at #34.   :lol

Should be a fun list.

Metropolis should never be #1 on anyone's list :P

34 is a good placement for it.

Where?!

In the force... *cough* sorry, I meant "fours", as in "thirty-four", which is nothing short of a disturbing placement.

I hope ACOS and LTL are nowhere near the top 20. That would be amazing.

Scorpion

Well, BIZKIT, your Top 10 just got a lot more interesting.

Cool songs, both are a bit higher on my list (surprise!)
