I'm going away for few weeks, can I get bumped down the list please? Sticking me on the bottom is fine, thanks

C'mon cup.
The last guy took so long, he probably forgot all about it.

Dude, if you're not leaving for two months, then that's probably not an issue.  :lol

MasterShakezula

Hello, I'm here, let's get this show on the road, shall we?

(One disclaimer, there will not be many from ADTOE on here.  I really enjoy the album, but aren't really sure on where most of stands for right now.)

50. I Walk Beside You -  It's not definitive DT at all and may not be a true outstanding track on 8, but I really enjoy it, nonetheless.  Though the band really is oriented towards the long runners, they can and have written excellent shorter songs, this included.  I actually really like it's u2/Coldplay like sound, same goes for the chorus.  Very catchy, overall.

49. Prophets of War-  Another less-heralded song.  I'd say it's one of the better songs of the SC album and a refresher from some of the less appealing heavy stuff.  I don't even mind the rap section; this is just plain groovy.

48. Wither-  This is one of the couple songs from the Black album I really play on a regular basis.  Quite amazing, DT doing a modern-radio rock type song, but it turning very well.  Another real catchy one; the bridge is a real find moment, especially.

(I apologize if these are really vague writeups; I'm not the best at say, say remembering and describing specific things about music.)

One way to do this is to write the write-ups while listening to the song :P

Anyway, nice start, though I don't agree on your first two choices. Wither then is an underappreciated gem and the best BC&SL has to offer.

Off to an interesting start, cup. None are top 50 for me, but I don't think PoW or IWBY are as bad as people say, so that's fine by me.

Didn't you mean worst? That would be accurate

All good choices ranked lower than I would, but all top 50 for sure.

MasterShakezula

Longer updates today and tomorrow to make up for missed days.

47.  Strange Deja Vu-  This one's one of the better ones off of an album I don't care much for.  It's a real groovy and upbeat track with some real cool, almost blues-y riffs.  What helps this one is that it lacks a lot of the sort of cheesiness that turns me off of other songs on the album.  Even the really dramatic, story-like parts of this one don't take away from the overall vibe.  Cool tune.

46.  Take Away My Pain- Real underrated track off of FII.  I say the tropical percussion and feel of the final version gives it a real cool vibe.  It also has some of my favorite lyrics of any of these songs (always enjoy most of the personal-type ones).  The bridge, as well, is another strong point.  Shame a good chunk of the original lyrics were cut out, though.

45.  A Rite Of Passage- The vibe at the beginning with the f/x on the guitar is great.  I'd of rather it kept more of that sort of vibe throughout the song, but it still ends up being groovy.  The sped up bridge section w/ the solos has a real nice riff behind it.  It's maybe too long for its own good, but nothing else real negative to say about it.

44.  Burning My Soul-  Another un-acclaimed song from FII.  I really don't see the reason behind the bashing this one gets.  IMO, it's a real fun, rocking tune.  The bridge with the key solo is a high point in it, as is the following vocal section leading into the final chorus.  Not a super progressive or MASSIVE song, but I can't really complain about that, since that direction's not the one it's supposed to go in.

43.  The Answer Lies Within- Uplifting ballad number.  It makes for a good cooldown after the manic opener.  I wouldn't say it's their best ballad, but it's memorable.  The strings definitely give it some extra power.

42.  Lifting Shadows Off A Dream- My least favorite on Awake is still a real nice, sort of U2-sounding tune.  The percussion line on the chorus is a real nice touch and the buildup to the final chorus makes the song for me.  I dunno if it had to be as long as it is, but it doesn't really drag or anything.

senecadawg2

Strange Deja Vu and Lifting Shadows could both be a bit higher IMO. The rest are kind of meh.

Shakezula if you are doing lists FINISH YOUR BLENDER LIST DAMMIT :lol

I wanna be on this list.  By the time you get to me I'll have my hard drive back and be much more familiar with ADTOE than I am right now

SystematicThought

TALW is a great song as is LSOAD.

The latter is a bit higher on my list, but I do like the other choices as well

IdoSC

Going by the fact that Lifting Shadows is your least favorite from Awake, and it still made the list, I suppose we're expecting the other 10 songs from that album too?

No.  I meant to say it's my least least favorite off of that placid coaster of an album.

hefdaddy42

You included 2 in your list that wouldn't be anywhere near MY Top 50 (AROP and TALW).

I was so blinded by the other 2 that I didn't even notice that one.

Make it 3.
