How big are the chances of a live DVD/CD of this tour?

and don't you think DT should do like Rush and just do a live DVD for every tour?
since they always have a new CD when they do a tour!

BlobVanDam

I'm hoping and kind of expecting a DVD this tour. Maybe I've been spoiled by their long run of DVDs, but Chaos in Motion wasn't a proper live show DVD, and we didn't get one last tour, so it feels time for one.

I mean it was more like bootleg quality but i still like chaos in motion,
and not beeing worked on (i guess) it has a great version of TTT from bangkok (JLB "where is zhe fucking line?", something like that). And JLB for my taste sounds much better as in the live stuff between between I&W live from japan(at his best together with score) and live in budokan. everything in between i have problems listening to.
and there are still so many songs i did not hear live! :metal :heart

I'd absolutely LOVE a new live DVD from this tour.  :metal

The only pro shot we've got so far is Peruvian skies from High voltage, but I don't see more of these coming up, so I'm in need for a real live release.

If we get a live DVD from this tour with the quality of that Peruvian Skies clip, it's going to have to come in a special edition with a change of underwear.

I hope and believe there will be a DVD-Bluray release from this tour, given that the stage production is probably the best DT ever had, and that the band is having a great time performing live,as i witnessed with my own eyes.

I pretty sure that we're getting one. Also hopefully better quality than Chaos in Motion.

I don't get what's with all the hate towards Chaos in motion. Seems to me like people are disappointed with it just because it's not high quality like Score or Budokan. Did any of you actually buy the DVD thinking you'll be getting the real concert with great footage and everything? It's meant to be raw, so try to enjoy it, it's better than watching videos on youtube. And most of you go crazy about youtube videos.  :lol

I couldn't have said it better!

There's GOT to be a DVD. The hiring of a new bandmate absolutely needs to be immortalized in a sense.

See, that doesn't sound too unreasonable an expectation to me.

I'd completely lose it if they made a DVD from this this tour. The stage lighting was mesmerizing then combine that with DT and you've got instant win. I'm going to say the chances are higher than ever due to not having one last tour and ADToE being a success. Fans have embraced Mangini and the rest of band seem to be full of enjoyment. It would be great to see all the backstage extras and more interviews about the tour.

If they do make one it better have the songs from both set list A and B. I want to see/hear Far from Heaven and Wait for Sleep and Breaking All Illusions. YouTube doesn't do them justice, I want quality! Was at the SF show so I got set list A.

I think everyone here knew exactly what they were getting, and I still enjoy a lot of it, especially the extra features such as backstage and hidden videos. It was let down by the inconsistent quality of the video and audio and performance, as it was taken from multiple shows. On some songs JLB was amazing, but then on others he was not so good, because it wasn't one be-all show where JLB could give it his all, such as RCMH.

Maybe people's expectations were just set too high by the all around amazing quality of SCORE, where JLB was at the top of his game.

The cover says that DVD features raw footage. Maybe you should have read it before buying the DVD, I know I did.  ;)

And yeah, Blob, you're right, the DVD might have it's problems, but for what it is, it's pretty damn enjoyable. And those extra features -  :tup  :tup  :tup

JLB sound terrible in several spots.  And it doesn't sound like "bad night", it sounds like his vocals were either poorly recorded, or way over-processed (or both).  "Raw" doesn't even cover it.

After last night, a nice little DVD from this tour would be very welcome.

That doesn't mean that people can't still be disappointed with it after having two much higher quality releases with Budokan and Score. Chaos In Motion was a good idea with less than stellar execution.

For this tour, I would be surprised if they didn't have a live release.

I completely agree with this. DT has a reputation for all their output being of a very high quality and this is as things should be. Chaos in Motion had some great songs that it was really cool to see live, but the quality did not do justice to the band, especially JLB. His vocals sounded quite bad at certain parts and having seen them on that tour, I know that's not how he actually sounded during the concert. A song like Blind Faith, for instance, deserves nothing but the highest level of sound quality when recorded.

So I think that Chaos in Motion was kind of a cool release, but I don't think its surprising that people were a bit disappointed. Maybe it would've done better as some sort of super-promoted bootleg than an official live release. I mean, even if I'd known what the quality would be like ahead of time I still would've bought the DVD, but at least my expectations would be different.

Well, if the DVD only cost $17 or $18 I might agree.  YouTube is free, so....  $25 for that DVD was just way too much.  Many better quality, 2-DVD sets out there for under $20.  Heck they have Budokan on blu-ray for $15 on amazon.  Now that's a freaking deal.  I know we're only talking a few measly dollars here, but when you multiply $7 by 50,000 copies, that's some serious bucks that's probably just going to some record exec.   I did notice that this one didn't even go gold (50,000 copies US) while Score and Budokan went platinum (100,000) and Metropolis gold (50,000).  So, obviously, a lot of others didn't like the drop in quality either.  But I really enjoyed 5 years in a LIVETime (have it on VHS and DVD), but it wasn't as expensive either.
