Man I really love this song. Such an awesome song to chill and listen to when having a few drinks.

Especially:

"He seeeeems alooone and silent.. waiting on his HANDS and KNEES".

Such powerful vocals.

Thoughts?

Phoenix87x

I bow down to that song  :hefdaddy

"she can turn a drop of water, into an ocean" absolutely beautiful  :heart

One of my favorite DT songs. So atmospheric.

I love this song. That last chorus is awesome. I love when the lower vocal harmony goes up to make a major second with the higher part. It's one of my favorite songs on Awake.

This ^^^ = my fav JLB moment ever. This is also my #1DT song. Perfecly encapsulates what they are all about. Notice it would also fit in nicely somewhere on ADTOE stylistically.

Same for me, but I would place LtL at like #1 compared to LSoaD at like #14 or #15

For me, both are somewhere from #10 - #20.

LaBrie dominates this song like a pit bull dominates someone's leg.  It's that amazing.

In this post, the truth is spoken.

The Silent Cody

I love this song since the first time I heard it. Impressive spooky bass intro and great melodies. I'm discovering something new always when I'm listening to it.  :hefdaddy

They really need to play this song again in the near future. One of the underrated gems from Awake.

theseoafs

I don't care for this tune. It drags Awake down, on the whole.

Mladen

Yeah, truly a beautiful tune. It took me years to get to love it.  :heart

Blackfield

Lifting shadows is without a doubt the best song on Awake and probably the best song (together with LTL) they've ever written. I would cry myself to sleep if I were to hear that one live. It's a shame they never play it live anymore.

Forsaken wouldn't be so hard to let go in favour to Lifting shadows, right?

Bring it back DT!

Zydar

One of my favourites from Awake.

A true gem, nothing else like it in DT's catalogue.  Simply glorious.

This. Dare I say in the top 5 of JLB performances? I dare say.

CrimsonSunrise

Absolutely love it....I used it in my first Underwater Vid....just seemed so perfect  ;D

(HD...so give it a chance to load a bit before playing)

Art

Amazing song, and certainly it´s in my top 10 DT songs. I love the 5 years in a livetime version.

senecadawg2

Yes, definitely a beautiful song. One of JLB best songs EVER

A top 3 on Awake for me. Great song. JLB harmonising with himself towards the end is awesome. And it flows nicely into Scarred  :metal

To start with Awake was a disappointment to me, coming after the total awesomeness of I&W, and I struggled to get into it. Lifting Shadows, Scarred and A Mind Beside Itself were it's saving graces and saved the album in all honesty. Without those songs I may not have persevered with the album and that would have been a huge loss.

Fixed. Not a bad song, though, as Awake is my fave DT album.

This. Absolutely incredible piece of music. Such an un-Dream Theater song, which is refreshing in the midst of Dream Theater's almost over-the-top Dream Theater-ness at times.

You are a crazy person.

Relatively speaking, of course.

KevShmev

Absolutely incredible song.  It has an atmosphere and vibe that is not only not found in any other DT song, but that is extremely unique and original-sounding.  1992-1994 is when the band were at their creative peak on all levels, and this song is a clear example of that.  I mean, they were even hitting their mellow tunes and ballads out of the park! :tup :tup

Architeuthis

Great song,  I think James could nail it live now better than ever before. I would also like to hear them do Anna lee. The melody lines are off the hook in that song and the solo section!!
