(I'm in a poll mood tonight  :P )

Without a doubt the most popular albums amongst DT albums from what I've seen. Which is your favorite? I say SDOIT, I'll explain why later.

FlyingBIZKIT

SDOIT
SFAM
Awake
I&W

SDOIT is easily my favorite album, ever.

I'd say it's in my top 5 or so favorite albums of all time.

Jaffa

TheGreatPretender

Scenes From A Memory. It's my favorite album of all time. That album is the last thing I ever want to hear. When I'm 150 years old and I'm on my death bed, I want to listen to it as I die.

BlobVanDam

My top 3 is-
SDOIT
SFAM
IaW
(with Awake being probably 8th or 9th or something)

So my vote went to SDOIT, even though it won't "win".

So I'm guessing you believe in reincarnation? I mean, if Scenes is the last thing you want to hear, it must have some kind of special meaning to you...

It's pretty tight. You never know.
One thing I can say about 6 Degrees is that it's got longevity. Many people either grew into it being their favorite or it was their favorite right off the bat and has remained that way.
It would even be my favorite, but there are a couple of tracks that kinda bring it down. And while one can say, "Well, if the album had less songs, how would that make it better." But it would. To me an album from the beginning to the end has to be a journey. To omit a song or two completely breaks the flow of that journey, and having to endure a couple of underwhelming songs (or fillers) brings the overall listening experience down.

I don't discount it as a possibility. But the album is (like Jaffa said) just so musically amazing that it's the last thing I want to hear. And The Spirit Carries On carries a much deeper sentiment to me than simple "chapter of the story" or "Song about reincarnation".

Or it's just amazing.  =D
I can see it now... as you're dying you're listening to the album, and just as Regression finishes, you die.

This will be you for the rest of eternity afterwards:

It actually took me forever to get into disc 1 (aside from TGP), and it was still probably my favourite DT album based on the strength of TGP and SDOIT. But now that I adore all of disc 1 (except for TGD, which I really like, but not to god level like the rest), it's completely untouchable for me.

But I know what you mean about the flow of the album. I love a lot of the songs on Octavarium, but the weak tracks are perfectly spaced to completely disrupt the flow for me. And I think Awake is quite good until it takes a nosedive with Lie. Even though it's a 40+ minute block of really good music, it has half an hour of music at the end that I cannot even listen to.

An album is a whole, so that has to be taken into consideration. I think that's the reason why SFAM is regarded so highly. It works so well as a whole.

I feel exactly the same way. It is in fact TGD that brings it down for me. On Disc 1. And on the 6 Degrees Suite, Goodnight Kiss kind of drags on.

Hmmm... I wish.

Wait, what?

Pols Voice

Awake.

Does it seem like Awake has gotten less popular and SDOIT more popular over the years? Maybe a lot of Awake fans gave up on the band.

The cross section of fans on this forum well covers the IaW/Awake era fans, so I don't believe that. I don't think the poll has been going long enough to draw any conclusion yet. The recent bombardment of polls of every album with ADTOE leads me to believe that IaW and SFAM will end up with more votes than SDOIT.

Bill Carson

Really tough...really really tough......there are so many positives with each of those albums so maybe if I look at possible criticisms I can then judge it that way

(i) I&W
- Sound of the drums

(ii) Awake
None

(iii) SFAM
None

(iv) SDOI
- Those call & response Metallica vocals in TGP just don't resonate with me.

So its Awake or SFAM....i'll go with...erm.....Awake !!! The Kevin Moore factor swung it.

I think it's more likely that those whose favorite album is, say, Octavarium, Train of Thought or Black Clouds, may like Six Degrees the most out of the "big 4".

I&W and Awake together.

I was going to point out there was no option for that, but who am I kidding? You're a mod. If you wanted an option for that, you'd dang well make one.

Liberation

Scenes From a Memory. However, I'm very pleasantly surprised with Six Degrees winning at the moment.

For me it's:
1. Scenes From a Memory
2. Awake
3. Six Degrees of Inner Turbulence

4. Images & Words

Jaq

For me of these four it's

1.SFAM
2. I&W
3. Awake
4. SDOIT

I've always been of the opinion that SDOIT is a little overrated amongst the DT fanbase myself. /ducks

The Silent Cody

The best are two of them: Images and Scenes.
Images has the best DT songs ever, Scenes is the best music experience as a full concept album as I know...
