How about a web concert?

What do you think? I'd pay. I know a TV thing would be not feasable with the limited fan base and costs, but i would think it would be possible to stream a web concert. They already do the video, they could pull the sound off the board and send it from there. It would be great for those of us that can't go. Just do a concert they have on the schedule.

senecadawg2

I would definitely pay for that. Needless to say, it wouldn't quite live up to actually seeing them live.

Live streams are almost always terrible quality, though. Plus, it'd be awkward for DT to play live to a camera.

hefdaddy42

I don't think it's a good idea for a band like DT.

Jamesman42

No. The live energy is what makes it a show.

Guys, I'm talking about them feeding one of the live concerts they do already.

paramore did that a month ago. free webcast. quality was DVD-like. would love to see more bands do that

johncal

Maybe they'll read this post and think about it, or somone can tell them. It would be another great way for them to get themselves in front of some more potential fans.

DVD quality steam of an already scheduled concert?  I think I like it.  Don't know if this has been done before, guess we'll see.

We've really be deprived of offical - read quality performances - of BC&SL and after releases than I'm a little hungry for something like this.

hefdaddy42

I've never seen one that really good quality, and usually they are for bands/artists a lot smaller than DT.

But if could be done with a high audio/video quality, then great.

I don't see why not. They already have HD signals sent to the big screens and I don't know what would sound better than sound coming out of the mixing board...

They could charge like $20-30 for the stream. They'd probably make as much money as selling DVD's plus if they're doing rotating set lists people might watch more than one. Even if they later did a DVD, they'd still sell those because they always throw in really good bonus extras.

heres an example of how good the quality can be. it looks/sounds pretty good even after someone recorded off the stream then uploaded to youtube.

opinions on the band/song are irrelevant. just posting to show it is possible to have HD video streamed at good quality to thousands of people (paramore also has a lot of cameras on this one, i doubt DT would have this much)

Not bad.  I would be content with that.

Me too! Now we just need to get loud and HEARD!

Phish does this all the time. The sound quality is usually excellent, as is the video quality. There's no reason DT couldn't do this.

wilgod3p

the streaming could be live from a real show too

Cost problems won't be an issue if instead of a full-on concert, they get in a room and broadcast an unplugged performance.

I'd pay $15 to view a 90-minute acoustic performance that was just for the online community. Charge $14.99 USD, and see what kind of sign ups you get. Have people pre-reg so you know numbers and can plan accordingly. It'd be cool, and if acoustic, it'd be entirely different. And almost everyone can view it.

I wouldn't pay $15 to just view it. I would need to be able to download the performance, but then I'd gladly pay $20 for it.
Quote from: wkiml on June 08, 2012, 09:06:35 AMwould have thought the same thing but seeing the OP was TAC i immediately thought Maiden or DT related
Quote from: Stadler on February 08, 2025, 12:49:43 PMI wouldn't argue this.

Wow, I would love if they did this, especially this tour.

Blu ray quality! I'd go for that!

Limited fanbase?  :lol

I'm pretty sure all of Chile is enough of an audience to justify TV broadcast of DT. On every channel. 24/7.

I don't think I'd be interested in that. I don't think Mangini on the egg shaker is my idea of $15-20 well spent. This is about a full on feed of a live concert, that's what I want to see anyways.
