Good interview.  Too bad the audio gets screwed up when they cut in and out of the shots from the show (at about 12:00, for example).

I like that there are no plans to continue Prog Nation right now and just focus on promoting the new album.  PN was a great idea, but I think it actually takes away from DT because of the shorter set list, and the fact that, right or wrong, promoters get worried about dilution when a band tours "too frequently" in a given area, so it makes it harder for DT to tour on their own and then again on PN.

Yeah but PN means I could possibly get to see bands like Opeth and Pain of salvation  :coolio

bosk1

Exactly, so you are agreeing that PN was an inferior product then.

From a DT perspective yes. I saw PN 2009 and it was incredible, but DT played a shorter set than they did when I saw them again in July this year so theres that. But on the other hand I got to see Opeth, another of my favourite bands so PN has its pros and cons :coolio

Very cool interview. I'd love to sit and have a beer with the Bear. Very cool guy!

I want to see DT play over two hours every time I see them, so this is good news for me.

That guy's a terrible interviewer. A couple of times Pettrucci's face was like WTF. I mean come on, frggin' 10 minutes on the album art

WildeSilas

What band were they talking about around 15:00? I heard the guitar player's name but didn't catch the band name. I don't think the interviewer has ever used a microphone before...

SystematicThought

It was a different kind of interviewer. I thought Aquiles Priester was interviewing him at first.

There was talking about Misha from Periphery.

JP's nephew, Jake, is in Periphery.

:lol JP didn't seem done looking at the vinyl before the interviewer snatched it from his hands.

Cool interview, thanks OP.

Here's what they're both thinking:

JP: "I AM 2 SECONDS AWAY FROM EATING YOUR SOUL."

Interviewer: "Oh shit, better think of good question..."

JP looks like Jesus with massive guns!

The interviewer was obviously star-struck but he did a decent job. One cool thing about JP and the rest of DT is how cool and down to earth they seem to be.

Blackfield

"You got to be careful at night... walking around... mohahahahHAHAHAHAHA!"

Petrucci scary  :'(

jammindude

Why is M. Night Shyamalan interviewing John Petrucci?

i didn't know JP co-wrote BAI with JM. i wonder if that translates to JM continuing with his free-form writing style and JP reworking them (read: lyric rule now gone) or what...

JM probably wrote the lyrics in some obscure tibetian monk script and JP had to translate.

Or maybe John Myung is just constantly speaking lyrics under his breath so softly that only someone with animal-like hearing can decipher it. Petrucci decided to write down a few verses worth of it and got partial credit.

I: "What does artwork of ADTOE is reffering to?"
JP: " Well.... that is a good question."

I was just going to post this . . . DT probably could have been #1 on the Billboard charts if all of their "fans" actually bought the album legally. Oh well, 'tis the times.

lyfeternl

I was under the impression that if JM actually formed more than eight words, either lyrically or verbally, the Earth would be thrown into unbridled chaos. Luckily, JP is the only one who can withstand such a...dramatic event...

Hence, team effort.
