Keep you expectations to a reasonable degree. Nothing really exciting there... :yeahright

Mladen

A cool video, with nothing really new. I'd be happy if JMX said anything, but no.

And yeah, a new album soon? Already?

I just saw on Facebook.

NEW ALBUM COMING SOON. ZOMG!

CrimsonSunrise

ummm yeah..... ;D  expextations were WAY to high before hitting the link.

These 1 minute RR videos seem pointless..no new information. I'm still hoping they'll release some videos of the writing/recording sessions with audio from the studio footage and not these interviews.

Yeah, this looks like it was something that was supposed to be released before the album. If that was the case, I would have maybe had some interest in it as a hype builder, but it's not all too useful at this point.

I really want to see some proper studio footage, because it looks like they filmed at least some of it.

The Silent Cody

Nice of Them, but really that video does nothing for me ;) nothing new, some nice words, I would really like to see something more from recording sessions...

DarkLord_Lalinc

lol they should release a 20 minute video about actual "creating the new album" stuff

jdprsaga

I just can tell this, they are dressed with the same outfit and the shots are the same than the documentary when they make the call to mike to tell him he is the new drummer.

didn't they told him that at the end of october/ early november?? didn't they went to the studio until january?? there is a missing piece in the puzzle.

i notice it since the documentary, but didn't said anything. Now i just remember it so i'm telling it :D.

I saw this before, but I didn't saw it here, on DTF. Anyway, nothing new again ;) Nice words from Mike ;)  :tup

I'm seriously starting to have some anxiety over RR's hamfisted and sloppy promotion of DT. I know I'm in the minority but I thought the audition documentary smacked of reality TV and was ill-advised. The album isn't available in certain countries - which has an effect on overall album sales and chart positions. These "promo" videos seem to come too late, show nothing, and worst of all, use dated and uncharacteristic background music (okay, they didn't use TMOLS, but still...). The samples they released on Youtube were bad quality, not available for mobile, etc. They're obviously promoting them more than the old label, but I'm starting to wonder at what cost? It reflects on the band and makes it look like they either don't know or don't care that these "promos" are outdated or irrelevant. I have a feeling this is the kind of stuff MP probably used to put his foot down about and say "No, either do it right or not at all."

Great post WildeSilas, I totally agree, can't find better words. RR promotion sucks, I wasn't able to buy ADTOE boxset in my country, wasn't available OTBOA single from amazon... and those short vidoes showing nothing sucks... I love DT and I want more ;) I bet that MP would not be happy if He still were in DT.

Wow my excitement was pretty high before clicking the link :)

So, it's a new video with old footage talking about how the latest album, which has already been out for a week, is coming out soon?  Gotcha.

Yeah, I have to agree..
I mean, I don't care much about it as much from my perspective, because I already have the album.
But, I have noticed everything that you have said..
The way roadrunner is handling Dream Theater is better than any label that they have been on before, but the way they are handling the new album's release is just sloppy and irresponsible.

I don't understand why they would have released two short videos of them talking about them making the album, with virtually no insight, when the album has already came out. And, the drummer audition documentary was terribly paced... Mike Mangini was THE FIRST drummer to audition, and it was obvious that he was going to be the new drummer after you see the band's reaction to him, compared to the other drummers.

I just really believe that once Mike Portnoy left the band, Dream Theater had nobody left that is interested in any of this stuff, they just want to focus more on the actual music. Which is great, but I think they need someone to "put their foot down" about things like the album being delayed, unnecessary and dated videos, and such as has been listed before.
