If James Labrie left DT, who would you like to see fill his place as vocalist?

I'd also think Russell Allen, though I'd hope he'd use more of his cleaner singing voice than slightly harsher one.

Myles Kennedy of Alter Bridge is another of my favourite singers and I'd like to see that as well.

Really though even though Labrie is not my absolute favourite vocalist, he is very versatile and fits with DT's music well, I can't imagine anyone else being such a good fit or being able to do all their different types of songs as well.

ME, but I'm too busy at the time, what with my family, my full-tilme job as a teacher...No, I'm kidding, I'm too good for them! ;D

Ohh yeah Myles Kennedy is a good option. Like I said I would love to se Mikael Åkerfeldt working monster riffs and lyrics with JP as a composer and song writter it would fucking kick some serious ass and balls!

If James LaBrie left Dream Theater, I'd want Dream Theater to retire.

David Fremberg

Would be a different enough vocalist so it wouldn't feel like they were just trying to get James 2.0 but a guy with the stuff to hit all the notes over the entire discography.

JLB is too distinct a voice to replace. It'd almost be like another band to me. But, I'll give the nod to Mike Portnoy. Think about it.

Same here.  I cannot possibly imagine Dream Theater with another singer.

FretMuppet

Either...

a) They quit for good

b) They become an instrumental band

c) They make use of their own voices, maybe invite MP back. JP, JR and MP don't have bad voices, but I doubt they would be able to reach JLB's range.

But JLB will always be the voice of Dream Theater

No one.  I'd rather they stop the band without James than try and find someone to replace him.

That would be cool  ;D but I can see his personality clashing with the others.
I don't know...nobody can replicate what James does. Not even James some times. But, there was this one guy on the James LaBrie forum who posted covers of himself singing UAGM and PMU. He had a really smooth, fantastic voice and he may be able to do the job well. But i can't see a DT without James honestly.

Why is there so much derision for this thread?  I looked up replace labrie in the search and this is all that came up.  How is anyone supposed to know that there've been multiple threads if they're not even showing up in the search?

That guy that does covers on youtube, his channel name is unflexablegrace
That's what I was gonna say :D

Or Jean-Philippe Major - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gCvsRMsIGgM#t=6m40  ;D

I actually like that kid, but that clip you provided all he did was hit the F# part well, the following wailing was pretty off key.

I actually don't think DT would be bad with a female vocalist. A good one would probably be able to hit his high notes, but  alternations may be important to make for some of James's lower notes.
hate to say it but thinking about it harder, I may just rather them disband.

Ditto....DT without James is not an option....he's far to much the DT sound and i think the man is irreplaceable. ;)

Me.

If I didn't get the spot, however, I'd like to see Xygnus or Captain Fantabulous aka Me get it.

Cranky

They wouldn't get a replacement, they would be an instrumental band.

Jordan would just make a PirateWiz app and play it with his left hand.

Either that or they would record an album with various vocalists in the studio and perform live as an istrumental band using samplewiz for the vocals.

Tick

I would want them top disband, but ok, I'll play along.
I think, Michael Eriksen of Circus Maximus has the style and the chops do do a very credible job.

7thHanyou

Surprised no one's mentioned Roy Khan yet.  He'd be my first choice.
