On the subject of the bolded new threads, it should be reasonably trivial to code, I just need to check whether I can add a new template to this theme without breaking things.
If at all possible, let's not break things.
Especially hats.

Huge, HUGE photoshop potential right there.

It wouldn't let me log in until I reset my password. Why?

Looks awesome, I love it... so you didn't need my help after all.  ;)
Compliments to the one who made this.

Hef breaks hats, Bosk loses them.  Keep hats away from mods at all times.

Both of the new themes look great, as did the old one.  Once we have bolded topics back everything will be awesome as hell.

I DIDN'T LOSE THE HAT!!!!!!

The Dramatic Turnings theme was a bit too bright and eye-hurting, but the Beneath the Surface one is great.  :tup

Yeah it's weird, I actually had the opposite experience.  It seems like every time the forum theme changes I love the default and everyone else hates it.

abydos

The default theme reminds me a bit of the DT.net theme (or maybe I'm completely delirious) but it is indeed too bright. Both are pretty.

hefdaddy42

I'm glad that everyone seems to love the Beneath The Surface theme, but something about it just doesn't work for me.  I love the Dramatic Turnings theme, though, so it's all good.

I'm still using the BlackClouds theme and after the change, it has a laggy feeling when I'm scrolling down a thread. Not as smooth as it used to be. I tried the Surface one and it's the same there. Any ideas on what I should do?

Zydar

I've been trying out the Dramatic Turnings theme, I like it a lot.

Looks like topics with unread posts are now bolded in the BTS theme.

XJDenton

That is the case for all themes now.

The Beneath the Surface theme is really sharp.  And it's the one I'm using. ;D

Kotowboy

Any chance of bringing back the thread preview when you hover over the title ? :)

XJDenton

Should be possible, though looking into it, enabling it does increase the load on the server significantly so i might want to do some testing first.

I think that is a separate mod that needs to be installed.  In general, I am extremely cautious about installing any mods.  But if there is a stable one in 2.0 that looks good, it might be something we can do.  But before installing anything to upgrade the software, we need to wait awhile to make sure things are running well with what we have.  Give us awhile to monitor the current setup and deal with any errors before we install new stuff.

Thanks!  That's a very welcome tweak!

BlobVanDam

Ok bosk, but that better mean that it will be looked into later, and not like when you ask your parents to buy you that badass Lego set of the giant truck with the pneumatic crane arm and motor, and they say "we'll see", which translates to "no chance in hell, but this way you think you might get it but we really expect you to totally forget in a week". But you know what? I didn't forget in a week. I was just too kind to ever bring it up again. But not this time. This time I'm holding you to your word, bosk. I will not let you rob me of my Lego truck. Damn you if you even try.

bosk1

:lol  You should know me well enough by now to know that if I weren't willing to do it, I would just say so outright.  A little bit down the road, if I remember or someone reminds me, I'll be happy to check it out.

BlobVanDam

That's ok, I'm too distracted being angry about that Lego truck now. I can't even remember what we were talking about.

It's actually native to SMF 2.0 now, the theme just has to be coded specifically to use it. The main issue, as I said is performance, as you obviously have to parse the first post of every thread whenever you display a list of threads, which isn't an insignificant amount of resource usage.

If it is a problem you are having with all themes, and it appears to be a problem no one else is having, it sounds to me like your computer is just having a problem displaying themes in SMF 2.0.  There isn't really a fix we can implement on our end for that.

krands85

Great job, new themes are really cool. :tup   Just switched to the BTS one and I think I'll stick with it, I prefer things a bit darker :D

I posted this in a DT power game thread, but I guess I should mention it in here too. Are poll results on the new layout coming out all weird for anyone else?

Is what it looks like for me. I moved the results bars and the percentages horizontally closer to the song names to remove some dead space and make sure the image wasn't too wide. But that's basically what it looks like for me. So instead of taking a new line for each result, making it line with the song name, it moves to the right, then moves down one line.  Tried it in other browsers and it seems fine FF, IE & Chrome. Just seems to be my one specific browser (Maxthon), which isn't used by a lot of people

If its laggy when you are scrolling it must be something on your end as the server has already sent the code to your machine for rendering. Is it the same with all browsers? What one are you running?

The perfect update for DT fans!

I will also be spending much time on the OFFICIAL DT board.  I think that this is the best way to infulence the band and make our opions known.  DTF will always be my home but I want the band to know directly what i think as a fan!

LONG LIVE DT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I miss being able to hover over a thread title and see the first few words of the post. That and when unread thread titles are in bold font. Beneath the surface look is nice though. Makes for a nice change without causing blindness.

This. I miss this option, especially when the op in the title is a teaser rather than telling you what it's about.
Otherwise, loving the BTS theme.
