I maintain that Mike Mangini has extra limbs and just hasn't told anyone about them.

SnakeEyes

And, also LaBrie.  That last verse is freaking amazing.

Orbert

Nice.  720p, decent sound.

Okay, spoke too soon, it gets muddy once everything kicks in, but still tolerable.

ElliottTamer

Wow, Mangini is like normal person on fast-forward...

Do you guys think that if Mangini stays in DT for another 10 years, and the band puts out good albums, that his level of respect amongst the music community will be almost up to par with Portnoy?

blackngold29

Well, that's just awesome.

sneakyblueberry

I would expect nothing less from the former single-stroke world record holder.  Awesome.

At one point there, he appeared to be having a stroke.

I am so fucking hard right now. :hefdaddy :hefdaddy :hefdaddy

Can we just say that now DT is the most technically talented band in the world ?

JP, MM, JM, JR....that's quite impressive.

atalkingfish

I think that there is absolutely nothing wrong with this new member and the departure of Portnoy. This video convinced me.

Ben_Jamin

This is fucking amazing....My favorite song from ToT has to be amazingly better with Mangini especially the slow build-up

Madman Shepherd

I'm no drummer so forgive me if this sounds uneducated but it really seems like his drum solos have improved.  I realize he is doing most of the same stuff he has done since the first concert BUT it seems to be more smooth and flows better.  I honestly didn't think I could get more excited for seeing this guy but he continues to prove himself to be an amazing drummer.  He is quickly becoming one of my favorites.

Yes. I think the only thing Mangini is missing is the exposure MP has.

Spacebar.

I love how much fun JP is having on stage. Especially after 4:56  :metal

yeshaberto

haven't even gotten to the solo yet and I am already dying for the LA show

Definitely this. It's only a matter of time.

See what I did there?

Nice footage, thanks for posting.

It was a great concert, and MM especially couldn't hide his excitement and happiness, after finishing the drum solo all the crowd shouted his name, and he was given a microphone to say thanks in Greek. Nice moment.

Also, after the ending of LTL, again almost all of the crowd shouted his name, and he was literally about to cry. I was in the front row and shouted at him "I love you" (yeah gay mode on) and he responded, saying "I love you too" and he was so ecstatic he was saying "Oh my god" all the time.
If i find footage of this i will post it, but i guess other people who were in the concert can confirm that.

Even when the band was about to take a bow and leave the stage we continued shouting "Mangini" and JP made a funny gesture, something like "Wtf are you shouting for him and not for me?", which was really funny.

It was a special moment and i honestly haven't seen any musician so moved from the crowd's reaction. MM really deserves to be in this band.

Also JP is way more animated and interacts more with the crowd, he is definιtely the leader of the band and it shows.

who else had to buy a new carpet at 15:00?

I don't know about the entire music community, but I think it's safe to say that the majority of DT's fanbase already respects him as much as/more than Portnoy.

Bill Carson

I remember seeing him for the first time in Vai's band, and his solo looked like he was on fast forward !

I'd imagine within the drum community he is regarded as a more technicaly accomplished player than MP but in the end, he will be judged on what he brings to the plate musically. In that respect MP is a legend in his own right.

Sir GuitarCozmo

I remember seeing him with Extreme in the early 90's and not noticing anything to get excited about.  Fast forward to now.  Holy shit.

He´s a monster. No doubt about it.

He tries showing people, but they just move too fast.

The first few vids of him I saw after he joined the band I was sure the video had been sped up at certain points. Then I watched more and more videos and realised they were all real-time ;D I still struggle to understand how he moves so fast, the guy's inhuman!  :omg:
Whoaaaahh, ohhh, ohhhhh. Whoaaaahh, ohhhhh, ohhhhhh. Waaah, ahhh, haaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaowwwwww

Technically progressive tamborine

It's not out of time - it's a polyrhythm.
