At first I thought the AD was part of the snippet

Sounds great though. Can't wait for the album!

Oh and looking forward to hearing what people are going to say about JRs lead sound.

Shadow2222

Really cool! Almost as good as Beneath the Surface

ohhhh I remember where where jp's guitar part is from (under Jordans synth lead). It's from that TC electronics pedal demo he done (for clean channel). He actually used that guitar part he came up with o__0

Is there a link for that on Youtube? That would be interesting to see. :tup

go to 4:24
EDIT watch from 3:00 for the inception of this guitar part :P

OsMosis2259

Is it me or is there autotune at 0:53?

aXygnus

Getting a Repentence vibe here, to be honest, but I can also hear some Dire Straits influence as well.

I dig Rudess' lead. This song is quite laid back, I like it.

Beat me to it...was just about to post this...https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uG3qLkR4UoU#t=3m18s

?

If the rest of the song is as good, this may be their best ballad in years! The lyrics weren't bad, either.

farsight

Ooh pretty good,  petrucci's clean tone is breathtaking, the lyrics are just okay, reminds me a bit of opeth.
Just when it seemed like the song gets more interesting is when it cuts.   goddamit, pascal, why do this to me?

You have great memories to remember something like that :lol
Looks like that footage would be from in the studio, so it wouldn't surprise me it that evolved into the song.

VioletS16

I'm going to be attacked for this, but I don't really like this one as much. It doesn't really click with me. The lyrics are kind of meh. But who knows, maybe it'll grow on me.

All of this, especially the Dire Straits influence. JR's solo somehow reminds me a bit of 70s' Tony Banks. Sounds like a solid, nice ballad so far. The lyrics don't seem bad either. Can't wait to hear the full song.

Zook

Way better than Beneath The Surface :tup

nikatapi

I really like how MM plays on this. It might be my favorite snippet after Breaking All Illusions.

kartmaze2

JLB is in the zone!

And snippet wise better than BTS. Less butter...

fibreoptix

Hm. This one certainly didn't hit me like the others. I might have to wait until I hear it on context before forming an opinion. Certainly not a BAD snippet, though.

Also, I really look forward to these snippets... not only for the music, but also because I can't wait to see what crazy hijinks that unicyclist will get up to next. ;D

EDIT: I will say this. Myung is DEFINITELY a lot clearer now.

pianoman

Definitely not what I was expecting, but I was pleasantly surprised! From the snippets we've heard, you can tell that they are just having fun writing again! This is Jordan's best album yet!!

There's a lot of subtle but cool bass sliding under the keyboard solo.

DejaVu

Sounds great! I'm digging the other snippets a bit more at the moment, but I can imagine this will be a surprise to me when I hear the full song. ;)

ResultsMayVary

I WANT THE ALBUM. GAH!

where's that 'smashing head against a brick wall' emotion when you need it?

Plasmastrike

I'm on break training for my new job on campus right now. Can't wait to hear this when I get home :)

metropofreak

Thanks for the birthday present DT!

Sounding good! ;D

On its own, I didn't like it all that much (the end of the snippet sounds really promising, though) but I think it'll sit in well with the tracks and contribute towards making the album a well balanced one.

Least favorite snippet so far.

The Silent Cody

When the guitar solo came in I was having shivers on my back, and when JR lead sound has appeared I have more shivers!!! This is great, Blackmore/Yes/Pink Floyd sound in one!

wolven74

I think this snippet is the "longest" we've gotten so far. I know it's about the same length as all the others, but it seems this ends at an appropriate place. I'm really diggin on the chill vibe here. It might pick up a little bit melodically, but this is definately something I wanna sit back with a glass of wine and a cigar and just relax. Beautiful. :tup

VanBrandevoort

Captainchaos204

it's a pretty laid back sounding snippet. It has a sort of ballady feel to it, but is groovy at the same time. pretty interesting. i like it!

Stupid ad.

+1 The ad started and, for a second, I went, "what have DT done?" ;D

Same here.

ReaperKK

My favorite clip so far.

It reminded me of the 10 Years song "Patiently"

GasparXR

Well I'll have to listen to it more to develop more of an opinion, but it certainly sounds different. I'll need to listen with headphones later too.
