kinda a strange thread, but something i've been wondering for a while.

vote honestely, cuz you can't see till you vote. just to quell speculation, im not asking for the best "combination of three albums"...simply, are these dream theaters best?

anyways, from the amount of time i've been on this forum, those three seem to be the "trinity" of DT's albums.

but yeah, in all seriousness, are those the three best from DT? I'm just curious, for real.

\o\ lol /o/

Mr. Beale

I wouldn't say they are above all the others no.

EuropaEndlos

Scenes,
Images,
Awake

Yeah pretty much, with the great tracks from Falling Into Infinity right up there (Everything minus, You Not Me, Burning My Soul, and Just Let Me Breathe)

Dr. DTVT

I&W, SFAM, and SDOIT (with Awake in fourth).

Chose nope.

ZirconBlue

Yes, but if FII had been based on the demo versions, it probably would have bumped SFaM out of the top 3.

The Silent Cody

Images, Awake and Scenes ;) and probably ADTOE  :metal

Ultimetalhead

Replace Awake with SDOIT.

And probably replace one of them with ADTOE in a few weeks.

lithium112

Images, ToT and Octavarium for me probably.

Yes, they are. A Change of Seasons is on the same level, but not really an album.

I have a strong belief that the trinity will gain a fourth member very soon, though.

My thoughts exactly (except for JLMB, which I think is awesome)

When you said a few weeks I got a burst of excitement!  :corn

kartmaze2

Put in SDOIT in there, and you have the Fantastic Four!
I rank them equally at the top of my DT album list.

lelanddt

Images and Words (definitely), definitely BCaSL, and probably octavarium

I don't really understand the dislike of BCasL (or I should say indifference towards BCaSL) from some people. It's a very very solid album! The count and the best of times are probably dream theater's two best songs of the last 6 years!

and even.......a rite of passage. that post chorus riff is  :metal

Pols Voice

Yup.

1. Awake
2. Images and Words
3. Scenes from a Memory

DTFan0789

I&W is the quintessential progressive metal masterpiece, so yes, absolutely. After that I'm gonna have to go with FII and SDOIT.

I love Scenes and Awake, but sometimes I think that people tend to overrate them...

Banny

Nope. Awake is near the bottom of my life. Probably the following for me:

1. Six Degrees of Inner Turbulence
2. Metropolis Part II: Scenes From a Memory
3. Images & Words

tedy

Yes,

1. Images and Words
2. Scenes from a Memory
3. Awake

BlobVanDam

No. SFAM, SDOIT, IAW. No contest. Awake isn't up to that league, sorry.

The blob has spoken the truth.

tri.ad

Images And Words and Awake yes. The third album to complete this is SDOIT. SFAM is way, way down the list for me.

This in that exact order. Awake is fourth.
