damn, my first post here at the forum was i big mistake and i got almost banned...so i hope this one will compensate it!!

I´ve spent several hours listening and observing (and watching Petrucci) play OTBOA...and then I wrote down the tab for Guitar Pro. And ci´d say it´s 95% accurate.

due to that i have logic pro and several plug-ins...i can seperate the guitars...so that´s why i can say it´s 95% accurate! i´ve seen other tabs that are great...but they haven´t been that accurate.
BUT....due to ultimateguitar.com it isn´t up yet!! i will post the link asap it´s up!!

i hope u guitar freaks out there will enjoy it!!

(if i´ve made any mistake in the tab...please tell me and i´ll correct it)

thanx :)

UPDATE:

So here it is:  https://tabs.ultimate-guitar.com/d/dream_theater/on_the_backs_of_angels_ver5_guitar_pro.htm

haha :) i think it´s safe this time!! i´ve been waiting for ultimate-guitar to link this file for over 48 hours now...should be up any moment!! :)

One of the administrators of this forum already made tabs for OTBOA. Since you are calling the existing guitar tabs inaccurate, he will take that as a personal offence, and that is against forum rules.  :P

haha...then ban me for being more accurate then :P

Just kidding...we all have different visions on how then song should be played...and my vision is as close to the original as possible!!
I´ve spent atleast 10-12 hours perfecting it...even though it´s just a guider line, since it´s problaby not exactly how Petrucci plays it...
though: if u prefer how the administrators tabbed it...you go for that one :) i don´t want this to be a contest who can tab the most accurate...i just want to help all the DT guitarist out there to play this song...in my way...and hopefully, the right way...but who knows

alexofsweden

just wanted to say this: i´ve played alsmost every DT song...i have to admit that this one is the most genuine song they´ve done since 98....truly a pleassure to play

alexofsweden

btw....is against the rules to send a tabulature? casue i have it ofcourse

alexofsweden

FYI: the tab will be posted any time soon at ultimate-guitar!! i´ve compared it to the highest rated tab there....it´s not even close (mustaine ego talking) haha

Dude, welcome to the board and all, but there is a modify post option. You don't need to post 4 times in a row.

Can't open it... only have GP5.

Plasmastrike

Not to be pesky, but is there any chance of a regular text file of the tab? :)

robwebster

Jesus christ - it's not until I look at the tab that I realise just how eerily similar the song is to Pull Me Under. There is a lot in common. In no way was this not deliberate.

Shure, if i could figure out how to make the gp.file into a PDF file

Blazinarps

Could you just export the midi file?

Try TuxGuitar. It's free, and it opens GP files as well as PowerTabs. Worked fine for me.

It's a .gp5 file, isn't it? I've just opened it on GuitarPro5...

BlackInk

Well for me it just says "to open this file you need to upgrade Guitar Pro" and I have GP5.

650 views on this thread and no comments about the tab?

Apricot

Not a clue about GP5 and whatnot, but if it can't be exported into a text file, would you printscreen the tabs the program displays and compile them? (I recognise this would be time consuming)

It took me all of 76 seconds to make a PDF:

Edit: Won't comment, not a guitarist. I'm following this thread for entertainment value only.  :hat Took a look through though and it does look good. Would need someone to confirm who's not a bassist. :lol

Mosh

I love you.

EDIT: I'm making a power tab of this for personal use, if the OP doesn't mind, I'll upload it to UG for Powertab users.

Just use this then :)

Not accurate tab though...but great as a guideline

Yes, since I don't have GP5 on this computer, I used that and learned the parts that were wrong by ear. Songsterr is quite the site actually.

Ah sorry dude. I just opened the tab in my tab reading program and exported as a PDF. I didn't really check it from there, but assumed things like that would be carried over. I by no means intend to take credit for your tab though.
I'll fix it up there if you like? Shall we say this was transcribed by alexofsweden?
