Canadiens ici.

Real happy it's at Place des Arts.  The sound will be magnificent.

Back from the show...

Setlist (correct me if I'm wrong!)

Bridges in the Sky
These Walls
Build Me Up, Break Me Down
Endless Sacrifice
Drum Solo
The Ytse Jam
Wait for Sleep
Far From Heaven
Outcry
On the Backs of Angels
Caught In A Web
Through My Words
Fatal Tragedy
Breaking All Illusions

Encore:
Pull Me Under

Couldn't ask for a better setlist IMHO  :tup

Sound was a bit meh from where I was sitting.  The drum solo was amazing, better than what I was expecting from the youtube videos (seeing it live seems to make a difference).  Highlight for me was Breaking All Illusions - incredible.

ok, need more than two nights, but if they decided to modify the setlists into C and D now, i am gonna be even more psyched for the show in DC.

I may have seen what you might have done there.

Same here, but at least I didn't sleep through the WHOLE show like the guy in front of me  ???
James was incredible (as was everybody else, of course) and they really looked like they had fun up there.

Hmmm... wonder if Outcry for TGD is an official swap for the rest of the tour.

Mladen

I like The Great debate much better than Outcry, but this way you know you're gonna get Breaking all illusions.  :metal

well, from what i've been reading, TGD has been the weakest part of the show (for various reasons).  love the song, but i think Outcry and BAI in the same set makes it that much stronger.

I have mixed feelings on the idea of taking The Great Debate out the set, considering it's one of my favorite DT songs. Maybe take Forsaken or CIAW out, and add a few minutes to the show in order to keep TGD? I know it's not gonna happen, though. Glad there are some people who're getting both Outcry and Breaking All Illusions.

As I Am

I'm happy that they've dropped TGD (seemingly) from the show. I like the song, but the few times I've seen it live, it just didn't seem to "connect" in a live setting. Now please drop "Forsaken"

Saw TGD live at Chicago and it was fucking awesome. One of the few songs I haven't seen yet and it exceeded my expectations. On the other hand, I haven't seen Outcry yet and I hope they play it next tour through the US.

I'm particularly jealous on setlist C and D. Nice variations and I hope they swap in some more songs (Metropolis, LtL, etc) as the tour goes on!  ;)

Hi guys, I'm new here.

I'm a die hard fan of Rush, have seen them 10 times since 1980.  A young co-worker in her twenties made me discover Dream Theater 4 years ago.  Fell in love with the band and started listening to everything about them.  So this time it was my third time seeing them at Place des Arts.  Great seats, the band was playing perfectly and enjoying themselves.  After seeing that show, I can't imagine Portnoy coming back as it looks perfectly clear to me that they are having a blast playing together.

Portnoy is about the only drummer I know showing so much while it looks so easy.  But Mangini has to be among the very best in the world.  His drum solo is for sure the best one I have seen in my life.

By the way, Labrie looks to me a little thinner on that tour.

Thanks guys.

I have no idea what you've been reading, but I have only seen a VERY small minority who have seen the shows this tour say anything remotely along those lines.

About time you joined the party. When I first heard Images And Words back in 1992, I kept saying ti myself, "This is the music Rush should be making!"

Quote from: wkiml on June 08, 2012, 09:06:35 AMwould have thought the same thing but seeing the OP was TAC i immediately thought Maiden or DT related

You're right TAC.  And what a fantastic band.  And they keep getting better as they are getting older.  That is something amazing.  But one reason I had never heard of them  was that I don't think they get any air play in Montreal.  I have always like prog music and hard stuff, so couldn't ask for better.

Well CHOM FM used to give some air time to Learning to Live back in 1992, this is how I happen to know them.
