Which one?

Take the Time
Lines in the Sand
Can't decide..

kartmaze2

I found these two songs a bit similar. They are both well liked and they both have some pop or funk elements in them. I also can't decide which of them I like the most, so (for the fun of it) I'd like to see what the DTF masses think.

FlyingBIZKIT

Love both, but Lines In The Sand is one of my all time favorites.

Take The Time

The main reason for that choice is the fact that I can sit through TTT. I have never listened to LITS all the way through

Well go listen to Lines In The Sand right now.

Jaffa

Don't take this the wrong way, because I do think that Lines in the Sand is a very good song... but in the time between reading this thread title and clicking on it, I'd already decided on Take The Time.

wammabe

I can't make up my mind. Both songs are really good.

Best song on FII vs. bottom-tier song on I&W.  Why is this even a question?

Bosk is correct.

LieLowTheWantedMan

They're both hideously overrated and average songs, but TTT.

Second best song on FII vs. bottom-tier but still very good song on I&W.  This is a question because the two songs are sort of similar in quality.

Fixed.  Liberally.

I think that's a fair compromise.

Riceball

Don't want to ruin my top 50 list seeing as I'm up next; both make it into the top 25 though.

And yes, bottom tier means it may be a 9.5 in a sea of 10s ;D I disagree with that assessment though.

I also think they are top-tier FII and bottom(or mid)-tier I&W songs, but at the same time I think they are very comparable (which kind of reflects my opinions on the two albums).

And it's a question because I wonder...
You can say it's more of a personal enquiry than a constructive contribution to the forum. My apologies...

I can't speak for bosk, but I don't think you have any reason to apologize.  :)

They're both in my DT Top 10. Take the Time wins, but Lines in the Sand has Petrucci's best solo.

ResultsMayVary

I'd also like to add that Petrucci's solo in LITS is by far one of his best.  :metal

"I can see much clearer now I'm Blind"

That whole mellow section gives me shivers every time. Don't get me wrong, I like Lines in the sand a a lot, but I absolutely love Take the Time.

Great songs. Went with Take the Time, but just by a little margin.

I'd have an emoticon, but I'd expected you to say no and possibly call me gay.

EDIT:  Also, I'm pleasantly surprised.  I thought Lines in the Sand would dominate this poll.

Take the Time for me and it's not even close.

Recently I've started enjoying LITS quite a bit more than I used to, but it's never gonna get near a top 5 song like TTT. I Love the early live versions of it so much, mainly thanks to James. "Find all you need in your mind....if you taaaaaake theeeeee tiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii-aaaaaaaaaaaaaiiiiiiiimeee!!!:metal The 'Antiquities' version with The Mists of Evening is one of my favourite live versions of any DT song.

Oh and TTT has my favourite keyboard solo  :hefdaddy
Whoaaaahh, ohhh, ohhhhh. Whoaaaahh, ohhhhh, ohhhhhh. Waaah, ahhh, haaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaowwwwww

?

Take the Time easily. LITS has grown on me but I'll always prefer TTT, despite the fact that JP's solo in LITS is one of his best.

For some people being the best on FII wouldn't be much of an achievement, and being the worst on IaW wouldn't mean much either.

Not for me though. They're both in my top 3 DT albums. TTT is easily my favourite on the album, even on an album as strong as IaW. But LitS is possibly my favourite on FII too.
I'm going with TTT, but they're both especially special songs.

tri.ad

Take The Time is my second-favourite DT song. LITS isn't my favourite, so TTT is my choice.

It's also my second favourite DT song. Criminally underrated that song is.
