pinchylarue

sweet !!!
just preordered for $119.01

shipping to canada sucks.
hopefully I get the ticket in my box. I have the best luck

Apricot

Play.com, a UK site, sells the album with a free TSCO DVD, under £10, so I'll just be buying that.

Implode

How likely is it that someone on the forum will win the tickets?

i'd say pretty likely. only because i won the BC&SL ticket in that boxset

ZBomber

Meh. The thing I dislike about their boxsets is it includes a bunch of shit I really don't care about. I'll buy the CD, I might grab the vinyl if its released separately, but that's all I really want from there.

Plus I bet this appears on discount a year later like the BCSL one. Definitely not purchasing.

TL

A little tidbit from the UK pre-order site;
https://dreamtheater.warnerartists.net/en/merchandise/a-dramatic-turn-of-events-exclusive-set.html

QuoteDue to the high quality of the box set, it will be shipped 4-5 weeks after release, but to ensure you still have the music a digital copy of the album will be sent to you on the Friday before release.

GasparXR

SystematicThought

If anything they should ship it 4-5 weeks before release, which is in the next two weeks or so

I hope that doesn't apply to America

olliemedsy

It says it's out of stock? Do you think they'll restock?

RaiseTheKnife

Does ANYONE actually listen to DT on vinyl?  Am i missing out??   A deluxe set with the DVD and instrumental disc might be more my speed.  Just don't have any use for those records.

If they don't release a deluxe version, then I'll buy the $100 set.  I guarantee that if I get a ticket for life I'm taking half a year off to travel with the band.

SlickSy

@olliemedsy  I had another go at ordering the deluxe set from the UK site this morning and it worked. So I assume they got that error sorted.

The Silent Cody

I wanted to preorder deluxe box set, but window appeares "transaction was rejested by Your card issuer". What am I doing wrong? I'm from Poland btw.

If you have one, you pretty much are getting free swag with the purchase.

Digital Download (Let's just say the value is $15)
Album (~$20)
Instrumentals (~$15)
Vinyl (~$20)
DVD (~$20

It isn't too bad if you break it down.

Those prices seem a little high. More like.

DD $10
Album $10
Instrumentals $10
Vinyl $20
DVD $15

The digital download is useless when you can create a digital version of the album a day later on iTunes. An the instrumental versions, what on earth is the point of those?

Even your prices are too high, since RR is already offering a CD+DVD version for $16, and a vinyl version (albeit for $22).

You can get just the CD for $14 + the vinyl for $22 = $38 total.  For $2 more you can get the DVD, too.

Shout out to all you american people, try out Spotify! I've heard its being released in the US soon .. or it might have been released allready. Kinda neat to be able to stream almost any song you can think of for a relatively low price. YOu can even download the spotify app to your iPhone which lets you create "offline" playlists.. meaning it works as if you bought the songs from iTunes or some equivalent. (Before you flame me, I dont know of any other such services, you may already have access to better alternatives, just thought I'd give you the heads up)

It's already here in the States, I have it on my computer and using it now. :tup

RR says it's their "most powerful album yet." I know they're just building up hype, but that seriously excites me!!

Powerful how?

Powerful is a vague term. I mean, you take a song like Endless Sacrifice, that song is balls, it's very powerful. But then The Spirit Carries on is a powerful song too. Hell, Hollow Years is powerful in its own way.

Well judging by the way they use it and the way DT are raving about it, I'd say powerful on an emotional/melodic level.

Statements by record labels are as useful as imaginary money.  You know what makes me excited?  The track the released.  The only thing Roadrunner could say that would make me excited is the they are offering free blow jobs with preorders.  And even then I'd be weary.

And to the people who want to mix and match...they can't make 10 different editions to satisfy everyone.  The box set should be special by offering one-of-a-kind items (better ones IMO, but that's besides the point).  I'm speaking from experience.  I ordered the LTE super-awesome 10th anniversary CD/DVD package, and was quite dissapointed when they made the decision to essentially release everything from the package separately - and everything together cost less than the package.  The only item not released individually was the Blu-ray (which is itentical to the DVD in content), so I essentially payed $35 for a blu-ray.  It's one thing for the price to drop due to copies still being in the warehouse, but when it's all available in some other form there is no incentive to get the box set.

That sounds like a pretty standard price for an average Blu-Ray. If they released one of the DT concerts in Blu-Ray (even one that I already own like Live at Budokan), I'd gladly pay $35 for it.

Nick

I will never, ever, pay $35 for a single disc of anything, that's fucking insane.

$20 for a Blu-Ray disc is pushing it, but for something special I'd pay that much.

Not true - the LTE Boxset also contained the bonus audio disc of the other improv jams from the other shows (not the late NYC one or the LA show), so you get those in addition to the Blu-Ray Disc, which is a steal for $35.

What disappointed me in the whole LTE boxset was that the Chicago Improv set was made available months ahead of the boxset, yet it was still included, so I ended up with TWO copies of the same disc.

-Marc.

Nick

Same happened to me Marc, but I was able to find good use for the 2nd copy I had so it worked out in the end.

Mebert78

No bundle package offered yet with a t-shirt?  I hope they offer that type of bundle.  Symphony X and Arch/Matheos did it, and I think it's a cool bundle.

As long as the CD/DVD version is only two or three dollars more than the single disc version here in Canada, I'll probably get that one. It would be really great if that version also had the instrumental version of the album, but I suppose they want to keep as much as possible exclusive to the Deluxe version.

I think so, too.

But, I enjoy being a smartass.
