Which is the Better Opener?

A Nightmare to Remember
On The Backs of Angels

emindead

Which one do you think is the better opener?

DarkLord_Lalinc

I'm not voting. OTBOA is seriously growing on me and my opinion would be seriously unbiased  :lol

For new listeners, Angels absolutely. It's a bit overwhelming to open the album with a 16 minute track.

hefdaddy42

I'm voting for OTBOA and I haven't even heard it yet.

OTBOA, definitely. I just listened to ANTR and honestly, it kind of seems like a joke compared to OTBOA.

LCArenas

On the Backs of Angels. It's heavy, but not as heavy as the "TASTE THESE METAL RIFFS IN YOUR FACE YOU SUCKA" feel that A Nightmare to Remember had. The Beautiful Agony section might be more memorable, but for the songs overall, OTBoA is a well-balanced, better opener.

Don't know if I'd say that... but agree that it kicks fucking ass!!!!!

Aniland

The only thing about ANTR that was cool was the first minute or so. Once the metal comes in, it gets... ehh.

OtBoA, however, not only starts incredibly, but gets progressively more exciting as it goes on.

Still, no song beats ItPoE,pt. 1 as an opener.

Eh, kinda depends on the rest of the album.  I think OtBoA is a better SONG, but ANTR did a really good job setting a tone for the rest of the album, which is something I can't say for certain about OtBoA just yet.

No one here knows what OTBOA opens up for. Bad poll

From ariich's ratings thread: 27. A Nightmare to Remember: 8.196

After 38 votes in the ratings thread for On the Backs of Angels it is rating at 8.184.

Granted, averages aren't the same as head to head, but you'd think this poll would be a little closer.

This is a very silly thread under the consideration that we haven't even heard what Angels is opening for.

I think most people are just interpreting it as which song is better because of that.

OTBOA

It's just the best intro since ITPOE PT 1 and it is such a great intro to the new line-up

OsMosis2259

This was a very tough decision. Right now OTBOA sounds very refreshing and has a more smooth introduction if that makes sense.

ANTR was very creepy, intense, bombastic etc.

I think both are fantastic openers but I went with ANTR.

farsight

I think the first half of ANTR is better than OTBoA, but OTBoA is much much better than ANTR's second half so they cancel out.  ;)

PixelDream

The new track, but ANTR is awesome nonetheless.

jlandrus23

OTBOA is the best opener, hands down. Nightmare is an awesome song, but OTBOA is so much better right now.

OTBOA

is it a choir?  Or keys?  I was thinking Keys

OTBOA for me. But that may be because it's new. ANTR had the same effect upon first listen.

Blind Faith is actually the second songs in Six Degrees, so it doesn't count as an opener...
(Damn, lamest joke ever, still, couldn't help it...)

It was a good effort!  :tup

chknptpie

I dont think I can choose yet.

ReaPsTA

I think OTBOA is probably the better song, but I have no idea how it works as the opener to ADTOE, so I don't want to vote.

Vajra

I adore OTBOA, but I think ANTR, is a slightly better song.
