QuoteHey Everyone,
I know it's been a while since I last posted anything. All is going great in DT land. The new disc. is coming along amazing. I can't wait for everyone to hear the music. We are all so pumped to get this out and play it live. Great to see such a collection of cool people. You're all keeping this place alive and kicking. Take care and I'll pop in from time to time.
Until next time... arggghhh up with the sails.
CJS.

"Long time no post."

I love his interactions with the internet.  :lol

Jamesman42

Beat me to it.

Very cool.

Oh, I posted it in the chat thread but why not here too, this was from about 10 minutes before he posted that update:

Made my freaking day.

This album could possibly be something very special.

I certainly hope so.

I can't wait to listen to it.

James makes posts like this a lot and to be honest I'm really not a fan of them. It's like..."Ooh, we said we'd talk to the fans more with Mike gone. I guess I'd better whip up a message even though it basically says absolutely nothing."

Don't get me wrong, I love that he's making an effort to interact with the fans, I just wish he'd say something more substantial.

dongringo

"The new disc is coming along amazing." = substantial

rumborak

When was the last time a musician said anything but that during recording?

I guess I would rather have the update than nothing.

Joey Jordison has given interviews prior to the last three Slipknot albums saying each time, "You're gonna love it, it's heavy as fuck." Apparently without realizing he said the same exact thing last time.

Also, speculation:

Does this mean the album is under 80 minutes? That's rather important information.

Hey, it's way, way, waaaaaaaaayyyyyyyy better than Portnoy's decision to announce Black Clouds & Silver Linings as an album of "The Glass Prison", "Octavarium", "Metropolis, pt. 1", "A Change of Seasons", and "Learning to Live" (I think I got the song titles right). That was probably one of the biggest gatherer-of-false-hopes that's ever been said. And I don't mean that out of disrespect to that album, but to rile people up by saying the album is like their most classic songs is just silly.

j

Me too.  Damn, couldn't have been further from the truth. :lol

Anyway I think it's cool that LaBrie is doing some of this fan interaction stuff.  Why is it that every time the guy speaks he has to reveal new information about the album?

I get that he was linking ACOS to...........actually, he probably linked that to TBOT. Octavarium possibly to TCOT? And clearly TGP to TSF. But I can't find Metrop or Learning to Live at all.

He obviously meant TCoT was like all five of those songs since it's that good.

This album could possibly be something very special.
With a little luck it'll be especially special.

DarkLord_Lalinc

Metropolis is A Nightmare to Remember.

It's just that relief is expressed in a different way. In Metropolis, the emotion is let out with a virtuostic instrumental section. In ANTR, it's showcased with the sheer emotion of the growl.

Jamariquay

It was Pull Me Under, The Glass Prison, Octavarium, Learning To Live and A Change Of Seasons.

Mladen

Always good to hear that everything's fine.  :)

I totally agree with this. And Black Clouds was great, it just wasn't that.

Actually, I have that South American guy who leaked A Nightmare to Remember and A Rite of Passage on his radio show to thank for that. I was totally expecting a return to the old-school Dream Theater, and then I heard the ANtR leak. It took me two or three spins to listen to it, get used to it, and realize how awesome it was even if it wasn't the "good old days."

As was said above it was Pull Me Under not Metropolis and Pull Me Under was definitely linking to A Rite Of Passage, As for Learning To Live I have no idea, but closest to LTL is probably TCOT

LTL could be TCot because they both have them epic woooaaahh outros

xShammas

This new album definitely looks promising. I'm very interested to see what direction the band takes without Mike. I know he was the main reason they were so metal-heavy lately.

SinisterMinisterX

JP has said several times that he's all about metal too. The heaviness won't go away, though some of Mike drum tendencies like long sections of double bass might.
