Different countries have different DVD region codes. You need to figure out which one you have (just wiki it) and then find the DVD with that code.

:lol

Seriously though, there's really not much you can do.  Essentially your DVD doesn't match up with your DVD player.

It should work fine in your computer.

This.

And how to remove region locks from devices can be found all over the net. DTF ain't one of those places I'm afraid.

Pretty much this.

Where did you buy it from? And if possible, could you arrange a return? I would make sure the seller didn't warn/advise against checking DVD Regions before you send them any emails. Most sellers tend to warn/advise buyers about checking their DVD player's region and making sure it matches the product they are selling.

If the seller didn't post what Region the DVD was, then you could have a case on your hand for a refund/return.

Huh, I wasn't even aware the Scenes was region locked.  Their later dvds were region free, right?

glaurung

I think it all has to do with when it was released. Older DVDs often had the locks.

Often, but not always. A friend of mine sent his laptop in for repairs when the DVD drive broke, and when he got it back, they'd accidentally put a Region 2 drive in. How a repair center dealing exclusively with machines from Region 1 would mix that up is beyond me.

plap11

i got it at a cd store called cheapo and i threw away the receipt so i can't return it anymore.

I switched the region on my computer so i can just watch it on that. thank guys

:tup Glad to hear that worked!

Enjoy the psychedelic effects!

Not sure what brand your DVD player is but Pioneer is region free.
I am in Australia....which sucks with good dvds releases, so region free has been great as I order from the US a lot, and it is really handy to not have to worry about it.
I am told they will soon clamp down on people doing that, they would rather we wait years for shows to catch up in our own countries but.....so far so good. :)

You know what pisses me off about that DVD? That it doesn't have the whole concert. I have the CD version and It's easily the best thing I've heard Live. They even play a part of Acid Rain! Why didn't they put the whole thing on the DVD? Does anyone know?

I've always wondered this myself, but I guess we can always hope that they eventually release the whole thing on DVD at some point. They did release "Another Day" and "Jordan's Keyboard Solo" in the 3CD set, so the rest of the concert (Metropolis, The Mirror, JLMB/Acid Rain, and Caught In A New Millennium) must exist somewhere!

Perhaps later this year they can re-release it in a 10th Anniversary Edition? Although with OUR luck, it'll be in a 4/5 Disc Deluxe Package with the DVD AND CDs and feature exclusive materials that you can only get if you buy the whole thing.

...but you know what? I'd buy it anyway. No matter the cost.

This exactly. DT is one of the two bands I don't mind spending a lot of money on. (The other one is RUSH)

I'll ask my sources, but I believe it is likely one of these two reasons:
1.  They ran out of time and/or money in the budget to properly edit the footage, which, believe it or not, takes quite a bit of work.  OR
2.  There was a problem with footage either not coming out right or getting lost.

The Curious Orange

Or it was only EVER supposed to be SFAM. As per the VHS release. The DVD has 3 bonus tracks because DVDs tend to have bonus content over VHS releases. The rest of the concert was never meant to be included (although the soundtrack is over the photo gallery, etc).

The CD was released a considerable amount of time later, and included the whole show. This isn't a CD/DVD release like Budokan or Score, the DVD and the CD were released at different times as different products.

KevShmev

And if they could re-release it with better shots of the band members, that would be great.  I still can't believe how little John Myung is shown during "Through Her Eyes."  His fretless playing is so badass, yet we barely see it.  That is such a travesty.

Oh, really?  I didn't know that.

Woah, he's right. The VHS/DVD was released in April. The CD wasn't released until September 11th, 2001.

Just go online and search for your dvd player model and the code to unlock it.  That's what I did and now my dvd player is region free.

Metabog

Man, completely forgot this problem exists with DVD. Never encountered it.

This couldve been such a great DVD but I do not know what the heck is up with both the camerawork and the porygon seizure effects.

What I don't like about the DVD is the 1928's murder scene where the killer use a 1992 pistol. Huge mistake.

I don't think I would've noticed that if MP hadn't pointed it out. I know like nothing about guns though.

DarkLord_Lalinc

Exactly. If this thread never existed, I would never know about that.

GuineaPig

Also the characters don't make any noise; they mime the scene while a guy with a computer follows them around hitting sound effects.

DarkLord_Lalinc

Hey! We're talking low budget-concert film acting  :lol
